The 4th round of talks between Israel and Lebanon, held in the US, lasted over 9 hours at the Pentagon building.

It was reported that the 4th round of talks between Israel and Lebanon was held in the USA. The meeting, which took place at the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) building with the participation of military delegations from both countries, lasted more than 9 hours.

The Lebanese press carried reports about the meeting, which ended late at night.

AN EVALUATION MEETING WILL BE HELD TODAY

The reports stated that during the meeting, the Israeli side presented maps and intelligence information related to locations it claimed were linked to Hezbollah, and brought up the drones used by Hezbollah.

It was stated that Israel demanded normalization on security matters, while the Lebanese side rejected this, as it is a political rather than a military decision. The press also reported that an evaluation meeting regarding the military talks will be held today at the Lebanese Embassy in Washington.

ISRAEL'S ATTACKS ON LEBANON AND THE CEASEFIRE

The Israeli army launched intense airstrikes on Lebanon on March 2, occupying many towns in the south of the country.

During this period, the Lebanese government announced that the number of displaced people in the country had exceeded 1 million.

US President Donald Trump stated on April 24 that the 10-day temporary ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel, which came into effect on April 17, had been extended for another 3 weeks. Following the 3rd round of talks between Lebanon and Israel, mediated by the US on May 14-15, it was decided to extend the ceasefire for 45 days as of May 17 and to hold the 4th round of talks at the beginning of June.

Despite the ceasefire, the Israeli army continues its attacks and house demolitions in southern Lebanon, while Hezbollah carries out attacks on Israeli forces, citing violations of the ceasefire.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also stated on May 25 that he had ordered the military to escalate attacks on Lebanon.
