The statements in today's Friday sermon by the Presidency of Religious Affairs drew attention: "Spreading false news and sharing unverified information leads to discord and strife among people, and causes the disruption of peace and security in society." ATTENTION-GRABBING SERMON FROM THE DİYANET
The Friday sermon of the Presidency of Religious Affairs on April 18 (today) included striking statements. The sermon of the Diyanet, which stated that spreading false news in real or digital platforms disrupts the peace and security environment in society, brought to mind Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı's post.
"SPREADING FALSE NEWS CAUSES DISRUPTION OF PEACE IN SOCIETY"
The sermon, based on the Surah Al-Hujurat, included the following statements: "Another message given in the Surah Al-Hujurat is, O you who have believed! If there comes to you a disobedient one with a report, investigate, lest you harm a people out of ignorance..."[i] This verse calls us to be cautious against false news and misleading information. Indeed, whether in real life or in digital platforms, spreading false news and sharing unverified information leads to discord and strife among people, causing the peace and security environment in society to be disrupted. It leads to many people being disconnected from life, many homes falling apart, and many friendships being ruined. Let us never forget that sharing information and news whose accuracy is not certain is a great sin and a heavy burden."
KÜTAHYALI'S "TRUSTEE" CLAIM
Recently, Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı claimed on his social media account that a trustee would be appointed to the CHP. Shortly after, Kütahyalı announced that he learned this was not true, and his post stirred up the situation. Statements from the government side also indicated that the "trustee" claim was not true.
RELEASED UNDER JUDICIAL CONTROL
After Kütahyalı's post, a sharp decline occurred in Borsa Istanbul. Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı was detained for "publicly spreading misleading information" and was released under judicial control.
