ÖZGÜR ÖZEL BECAME THE CHAIRMAN OF THE NEW PARTY
The application documents prepared by Özgür Özel and his team to establish the New Party were submitted to the Ministry of Interior. In this context, 91 Members of Parliament, including Özel, resigned from the Republican People's Party (CHP) to join the New Party.
Following the resignations and the application, the first meeting of the New Party's Founders Board was held at the Anatolian Club, which was established in 1926 upon the instruction of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and whose first honorary president was İsmet İnönü. At the meeting held there, Özgür Özel was unanimously elected as the Chairman.
DEPUTY GROUP CHAIRS REMAINED THE SAME
After being elected chairman, Özgür Özel also determined his A-team. Ali Mahir Başarır, Murat Emir, and Gökhan Günaydın became the deputy group chairs of the New Party. These three individuals were also deputy group chairs while in the CHP.
