The harassment of a little child turned Kayseri into a disaster area! The damage became apparent when the day broke.

The information that a Syrian national in Danışmentgazi neighborhood of Kayseri harassed a 5-year-old child who is also Syrian turned the city into a fire scene. After the incident, large crowds set numerous businesses, houses, and vehicles on fire, but the events ended with the intervention of Kayseri Governor Gökmen Çiçek and security forces.

GOVERNOR'S OFFICE ANNOUNCED: HARASSER TAKEN INTO CUSTODY

During the tension, around 10 police officers were injured and taken to the hospital, while Kayseri Governor's Office made a statement on social media after the incident. The statement said, "As a result of the harassment behavior of a Syrian national towards a Syrian child of young age in our Danışmentgazi neighborhood, the person has been taken into custody by our security units, and our child has been placed under protection by our units. The issue is being closely monitored by us, and we respectfully request our citizens not to engage in any actions other than those stated by the official authorities."

GOVERNOR GÖKMEN ÇİÇEK: WE WILL NOT ALLOW SUCH VILENESS AGAIN

Kayseri Governor Gökmen Çiçek came to the area where the incidents took place to calm the citizens. Governor Çiçek climbed onto the balcony of a nearby building and warned the people to stay calm. Governor Çiçek stated that 10 police officers were injured while trying to calm down the situation and said, "I understand your anger very well. I know that you are really angry right now and that this incident is a vile act. I promise you as your governor. There will be no such vileness in the Danışmentgazi neighborhood again. I understand that you are all hurt. Our police officers who fight against terrorism in the mountains and stones for the unity of this country are trying to do something for your safety. I have received your message. For the sake of Allah, let none of our police officers bleed. We will do whatever is necessary. I don't want anyone to get hurt here. Currently, 10 of our police officers are injured. The state will do what is necessary. I want everyone to disperse."

MÜSAVAT DERVİŞOĞLU: TAKE THE NECESSARY ACTIONS SERIOUSLY

Müsavat Dervişoğlu, the leader of the Good Party, made a statement on social media regarding the allegation that a Syrian person harassed a 5-year-old child in Kayseri. In his statement, Dervişoğlu said, "We have warned the government several times to avoid experiencing the scene that happened in Kayseri today. We said that the refugee issue is an existential national security threat for Turkey and the Turkish nation. And now, this issue, which has surpassed a silent and hidden occupation, is turning into a total destruction. I am addressing those who ignored our warnings and deliberately let millions of refugees pass through our borders! You have driven Turkey into an abyss knowingly, do not watch it fall from that abyss indifferently from your comfortable seats! Take the necessary actions seriously regarding the inhumane incident that happened in Kayseri and the developments that followed! On this occasion, I once again call on all political parties and civil society organizations! Let's take immediate action with a common solution proposal and a common political will on a common ground."

DAMAGE REVEALED AT DAWN

The damage caused in Kayseri became apparent at dawn. It was observed that businesses and vehicles were damaged in the Danışmentgazi, Osmanlı, Selçuklu, Hürriyet, and Aydınlıkevler neighborhoods of the Melikgazi district.

An overturned car was in the middle of the road. After a lively night, silence was observed in the area. Police officers continue to patrol the area to maintain security.

CHILD AND FAMILY UNDER PROTECTION

The Ministry of Family and Social Services announced that the victim child, their siblings, and mother have been placed under state protection. In a written statement, the Ministry stated, "Regarding the news that appeared in some media outlets as '7-year-old Syrian child harassed in Kayseri,' the following statement is deemed appropriate to be made. As soon as the incident was reported to the security units, our Provincial Directorate took immediate action. The victim child, their siblings, and mother have been placed under state protection after the procedures at the police station. A psychosocial support process has been initiated for the child and their family by our expert teams. As the Ministry, we will intervene in the legal process and closely follow the punishment of the perpetrator with the heaviest penalty."
