During the meeting, a dispute arose between the journalists who wanted to capture the protocol and participants and Dervişoğlu's bodyguards. The journalists, who were forcefully removed during the argument, reacted to the situation. SCUFFLE BROKE OUTAs a result, a scuffle broke out between the journalists who were removed from the hall and the bodyguards. The bodyguards also did not allow journalists to film the scuffle. The journalists stated that the bodyguards insulted and assaulted them. Condemning the incident, Çorum Mayor Halil İbrahim Aşgın stated, "I have learned with deep sadness that our local press members in Çorum, whose only aim was to perform their duties during İYİ Party Chairman Musavat Dervişoğlu's visit to Çorum, were insulted and assaulted. I condemn this unacceptable incident against press freedom, which we always emphasize and which is of great value to us; I extend my best wishes to all press members who were subjected to insults and mistreatment." JOURNALISTS RESPONDEDHacı Odabaş, the Çorum Provincial Representative of the Global Journalists Council and a member of the Central Executive Board, also condemned the harsh attack on journalists by the bodyguards in strong terms. In a statement from the Çorum Journalists Association, it was emphasized that it is absolutely unacceptable for journalists to be subjected to such treatment in an environment where they were invited to participate.
