20-year-old athlete Jazmin Garza suffered a heart attack at the gym after consuming the energy drink Ghost. Garza, who normally does not consume caffeinated beverages, tried this drink for the first time. Her heart stopped, and she stopped breathing; Garza's heart stopped multiple times, and oxygen did not reach her brain and organs.

20-year-old athlete Jazmin Garza suffered a heart attack while lifting weights at the gym after drinking a third of a can of Ghost energy drink. While exercising with her boyfriend Isaac Ayala, Garza experienced dizziness, collapsed, and began to have a seizure.

Isaac immediately performed CPR on Jazmin, who had stopped breathing and whose heart had stopped. Paramedics arrived and administered shock treatment to restart her heart. Texas resident Jazmin, who was in Iowa, suffered multiple heart attacks, with one instance where her heart stopped for 5 minutes.

During each attack, oxygen did not reach her brain and organs. The young woman, whose kidneys, lungs, and heart were severely damaged, was placed on life support. Doctors told her family that "a miracle was needed to bring back the old Jazmin."

Jazmin stated that she normally does not consume caffeinated drinks and that this was her first time trying this beverage. Despite numerous tests, doctors could not determine the cause of the heart attack. Jazmin believes that the combination of an unknown heart condition and the energy drink may have led to this situation.

Ghost energy drink contains more than twice the caffeine of two cups of coffee (200mg). The drink's contribution to this incident is unknown, but experts indicate that energy drinks carry risks such as heart rhythm disorders, depression, colon cancer, and insomnia.

After two weeks of treatment, Jazmin, who has fully recovered, says she will now stay away from energy drinks. The couple is facing financial difficulties due to high treatment costs and losing their jobs.
