Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu examined the ongoing work on the Mersin-Adana-Osmaniye-Gaziantep High-Speed Train Project. With the Mersin-Adana-Osmaniye-Gaziantep High-Speed Train Project, built for speeds of 200 kilometers per hour, the travel time of approximately 6.5 hours will be reduced to 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu inspected the Tarsus tunnel passage works of the Mersin-Adana-Osmaniye-Gaziantep High-Speed Train Project and received information from officials.

A 2,400 METER SECTION WILL BE ENTIRELY UNDERGROUND

Following the inspection, Uraloglu told reporters that the project consists of a 312-kilometer high-speed railway line starting from Mersin and extending to Gaziantep. Uraloglu stated that they plan to continue the project both northward and eastward, and noted that work on the Tarsus passage of the project continues.

Minister Uraloglu provided information about the section of the project passing through the center of Tarsus, saying: "Our railway essentially has a structure that divides the city in two. It is an area with many level crossings. In our assessment here, with the idea that our citizens can walk with their luggage to the station from within the city, board the train, and also not disrupt life as much as possible, we have turned a 2,400-meter section entirely underground, making the area above it a space that allows life to integrate and social activities to take place."

Uraloglu noted that with this service, they are gaining an area of up to 90-100 thousand square meters, and stated that this investment is a valuable construction.

"WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A LINE THAT WILL GO FROM OVAKÖY TO FAV PORT AND TO THE PERSIAN GULF"

Emphasizing that they continue work on all modes of transport in Mersin, Minister Uraloglu said, "On the railway, we plan to finish the section between Mersin and Adana by the end of this year, conduct tests in the first months of next year, and open it for service."

Minister Uraloglu stated that the project will also go north and that there is an existing line, saying, "We have held the tender for the high-speed train line between Aksaray-Ulukışla Yenice. When we look at the first phase, we are talking about a line starting from Gaziantep and going to Kapıkule, but in the future, it will go from the Southeast from Ovaköy to Fav Port and to the Persian Gulf. May it bring goodness and blessings."

IT WILL INTEGRATE WITH THE DEVELOPMENT ROAD PROJECT

The Mersin-Adana-Osmaniye-Gaziantep High-Speed Train Project will not only be a regional transportation investment but also part of a strategic corridor that will integrate Turkey into international logistics networks.

This line will integrate with the Development Road Project, which extends via Ovaköy to the Persian Gulf in the future, and through this integration, cargo arriving at Fav Port will be transported to Europe via Turkey. Mersin Port will stand out as one of the most important logistics gateways opening to the Mediterranean in this process.

THE TRAVEL TIME OF APPROXIMATELY 6.5 HOURS WILL DROP TO 2 HOURS 15 MINUTES

With the Mersin-Adana-Osmaniye-Gaziantep High-Speed Train Project, built for speeds of 200 km/h, the travel time of approximately 6.5 hours will drop to 2 hours and 15 minutes. When the project is completed, it is projected to carry an average of over 3 million passengers and around 37 million tons of cargo annually.
