The temporary government in Syria announced the appointment of Murhaf Ebu Kasra, a senior commander of the opposition who overthrew the Assad regime, as the Minister of Defense. Abu Hasan al-Hamawi, the commander of the military wing of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), stated that Murhaf Ebu Kasra would be the "first group" to disband HTS's armed wing and integrate it into the Syrian armed forces.

Hamawi emphasized that the regions controlled by the Kurds in Syria would also be integrated into the new administration, stating that Syria would not be divided, saying, "The Kurdish people are one of the components of the Syrian people.
