In the second hearing of the trial of Savaş Temirhanoğulları, who shot and killed 9 people during a divorce process in Antalya, a recording of the moments when the victim's daughter called 112 was played. The 15-year-old girl said, "My mom has been stabbed and injured at midnight, they broke her teeth, she is barely breathing. There are bullet marks on the wall." The relatives of the victim were brought to tears upon hearing her words.
The second hearing of the trial of Savaş Temirhanoğulları, who shot and killed his wife Fadim Temirhanoğulları during their divorce process, was held at the Antalya 1st High Criminal Court. During the hearing, the relatives of the victim were heard as complainants, and the defendant's childhood friend was heard as a witness, while the mother and relatives of Fadim Temirhanoğulları attended the trial wearing a t-shirt with the victim's photo on it. In the trial, where the defendant Savaş Temirhanoğulları and Fikret İnal were also present in the courtroom, voices were raised from time to time during the defendants' defense.
WITNESSES AND COMPLAINANTS WERE HEARD First, the defendant's childhood friend was heard as a witness. The witness stated, "I have no information about the moment of the incident or before it. I have known Savaş since he was 10 years old; he is my friend from the neighborhood. I have known the victim since he got married. He called me before the first divorce decision. I said we couldn't meet without talking to Savaş. We went to his house with Savaş's sister. He said he wanted a divorce. I talked to Savaş, and he said, 'Do whatever he wants.' Later, a lawsuit was filed. During the trial, they talked among themselves and said they reconciled. I also went inside and said they withdrew from the case. Later, I heard that a second case was opened. In the file, it was as if no case had ever been opened, as if none of these events had ever happened. Later, I called Savaş and expressed my surprise. Savaş was a religious, good father, a person who cared for his child. He didn't drink alcohol. He was someone we all looked up to. I was very surprised; I thought it could happen to me, but it wouldn't happen to Savaş. I know they met through Fikret; I never approved of this marriage," he said.
"THREATENING WITH 'YOUR FOOT MAY TRIP ON A STONE IN 3-4 YEARS'" The complainants stated that after Fadim Temirhanoğulları received the divorce decision, she recorded the defendant's conversations with an old phone and sent these recordings to the family WhatsApp group. The victim's sister, Canan Güneş, stated that the defendant sent threatening messages to his wife Fadim Temirhanoğulları, saying, "You will give me power of attorney, no one from the families will come to the hearing." In the voice recordings, he says, "In 3-4 years, your foot may trip on a stone; it will trip anyway. You are spreading honey on my bread," she said. The mother, Mediha Saçlı, who was heard as a complainant, said, "If my child made a mistake, he should have divorced her. He threatens my daughter, saying, 'If I want, I can have you and your mother killed,'" she said. The victim's lawyer, Süleyman Çalıkuşu, also requested that the defendant be tried for intentional and premeditated murder, stating, "No one comes to reconcile at 4:30 in the morning."
CLAIM OF "DNA UNDER THE NAIL BELONGS TO ANOTHER MAN" The defendant Savaş Temirhanoğulları's lawyer, Erman Güneş, claimed that according to the autopsy report, the DNA found under the victim's nails belonged to a male, stating, "The victim had no male child, brother, or father. There was no male around who could accidentally transfer DNA. This DNA does not belong to my client, nor does it belong to Fikret İnal. This situation shows that the identity of the DNA found under the victim's nails needs to be determined." He also stated that heavy antidepressant substances were found in the victim's blood and urine, arguing that the defendant should benefit from the unjust provocation provisions.
"THEY ARE PLOTTING AGAINST ME" The defendant Savaş Temirhanoğulları denied the accusations in his defense. Claiming that a perception was being created against him, he said, "They are trying to portray me as a murderer, rapist, and pervert. Am I an organized crime syndicate?"
AUDIO RECORD OF HIS DAUGHTER CALLING 112 WAS PLAYED IN THE COURTROOM The audio recording of the 15-year-old girl, who was at home during the murder, calling 112 was played in court. The girl called for emergency help, saying, "There are bullet marks on the wall. Her teeth are broken, my mother is lying on the floor in a pool of blood." In the voice recordings of the girl, who did not attend the hearing, she said, "I heard screams at night, but I thought it was a dream; my mother was injured at night, stabbed, they broke her teeth, she is breathing very little, I am home alone, I called my aunt. There are bullet marks on the wall," causing the relatives of the victim to burst into tears.
SECURITY CAMERAS WERE REVIEWED The court also included security camera footage of a vehicle moving in the back of the site on the night of the incident. The defendant stated that the vehicle belonged to Fikret İnal and that he was driving it on the night of the incident.
"WE ARE HERE TO ENSURE JUSTICE" After the hearing, lawyer Yağmur Burçin Sayın stated that the defendant's lawyers wanted to have their client undergo a mental health report again to benefit from a sentence reduction, saying, "A 1-1.5 minute psychiatric examination is insufficient, but a woman's death is carried out in 4.5 minutes. The defendant and his lawyers are trying to manipulate the court. They claim that the defendant is not of sound mind, but the defendant is defending himself in a very conscious manner during the hearing. We do not want this case to be prolonged; justice must be served."
In his statements, he emphasized that the court also rejected the requests of the defendant and the lawyers, saying, "Therefore, we are here for Fadim. We are here to seek justice. The audio recording of the conversations where her daughter called the emergency room also moved us deeply. After listening to that conversation, it was clear that the remaining divorce file or all the examinations and requests were invalid. Because it was a very brutal death. The girl talks about her mother's broken teeth there. This means that a different assault incident also took place there. So, a 1-1.5 minute examination by a psychiatrist is not enough, but in 4.5 minutes, a woman's death is carried out by him. The defendant continues to be tried in custody. We believe that a decision will be made in the next hearing. There is no more evidence to be gathered. They claimed that there was another DNA under Fadim's nails to benefit from provocation. This will depend on the defense they will make after the opinion. But they laid the foundation for this," he stated.
"WOMEN AND CHILDREN SHOULD NOT BE KILLED" After the hearing, the victim's mother, Mediha Saçlı, expressed her pain and demand for justice, saying, "The murderers are lying about everything; my child did not harm anyone. They are also threatening my grandchild. I call on our President, please intervene. No woman or child should be killed." The court panel rejected the request for a re-evaluation of the defendant's mental health report and announced that the next hearing would be held on April 9. It was decided to transcribe and examine the call records of 112 Emergency and the audio recordings submitted to the court.
WHAT HAPPENED? The incident occurred on September 12, 2024, in the Hurma neighborhood of the Konyaaltı district. Savaş Temirhanoğulları, who had a 3-month restraining order against him, went to the house where Fadim Temirhanoğulları lived in the early morning, argued with his wife, and fired 5 shots with a gun. Temirhanoğulları died at the scene, while the suspect fled. Savaş Temirhanoğulları was caught by the police in Korkuteli district shortly after and was arrested by the court he was brought to.
"I DO NOT BLAME MY FATHER" The couple's 15-year-old daughter, İ. T., who was at home at the time of the murder, stated in the first hearing that she did not complain about her father, saying, "I do not blame my father. My mother had psychological problems. That day, she took the gun."
