INVESTIGATION INTO INAPPROPRIATE INTERVENTION AGAINST A HORSE
The Tekman District Governorate issued a public notice regarding an incident that occurred during horse races as part of a festival held in the district. The statement indicated that action was taken upon the detection of footage showing inappropriate intervention against a horse during the horse races of the 2nd Traditional Aras Festival, organized by the Tekman Municipality in the Hacıömer Neighborhood on June 20, 2026.
The statement from the district governorate included the following expressions: 'In order to clarify all aspects of the incident, efforts are being carried out by our relevant institutions regarding the identification of the individuals in the footage, the assessment of the animal's health condition, the examination of the organization process, and the evaluation of the incident within the scope of relevant legislation.'
In the statement, which emphasized that the necessary sensitivity is shown regarding obligations for the protection and welfare of animals, it was reported that necessary administrative and judicial actions will be applied within the framework of relevant legislation against individuals found responsible as a result of the reviews and investigations.
