It has been decided to send the case file of Ümit Özdağ, the Chairman of the Victory Party, who is being tried on the charge of "insulting the President," to the Antalya Criminal Court of First Instance.

The leader of the Victory Party, Ümit Özdağ, was detained on charges of insulting the President, and the investigation was later expanded to include the charge of "inciting the public to hatred and enmity." After being detained in Ankara, Özdağ was taken to Istanbul and sent to Marmara Prison following a detention order against him.

RETURNED TO ANTALYA DUE TO LACK OF JURISDICTION

An indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the allegation of "insulting the President" had been sent to the Istanbul 35th Criminal Court of First Instance. Sevdagül Tunçer, the Deputy Chairperson of the Victory Party, announced that the Istanbul 35th Criminal Court of First Instance ruled that it lacked jurisdiction because the speech in question was made in Antalya, and decided to send the case file to the competent Antalya Criminal Court of First Instance.

"THE SPEECH WAS MADE IN ANTALYA"

Tunçer's post on her social media account was as follows:

"The Istanbul 35th Criminal Court of First Instance, to which the indictment regarding our Chairman Ümit Özdağ's charge of insulting the President was sent, has ruled that it lacks jurisdiction due to the fact that the speech was made in Antalya, as we have objected from the very beginning, and decided to send the case file to the competent Antalya Criminal Court of First Instance."

The investigation opened against Özdağ for "inciting the public to hatred and enmity" is ongoing by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
