Ukrainian President Zelensky stated in a press conference that he is ready to resign for the sake of peace or NATO membership.
Ukrainian President Zelensky, who has been accused of dictatorship by US President Donald Trump, made a striking statement. Responding to journalists' questions, Zelensky also spoke about the ongoing war with Russia.
"I AM READY TO RESIGN"
Zelensky stated in his remarks that he is ready to resign if it is necessary for peace with Russia or for Ukraine's NATO membership. Zelensky said, "If I need to resign for peace or NATO membership, I am ready for that."
HE DENIED TRUMP
Zelensky also denied Donald Trump's statements that $350 billion had been provided to Ukraine for the war. Zelensky stated, "Ukraine received not $350 billion from the US (as claimed by the Trump administration), but $100 billion."
"WE DO NOT ACCEPT A $500 BILLION DEBT"
In his continued remarks, the Ukrainian President said, "An important summit will take place tomorrow. 13 of our partners will come to Kyiv, and 24 of our partners will participate in the meeting online. An agreement with the US requires security guarantees that have not yet been provided to us (against Russia). We have infinite respect for our partners, but we do not accept a $500 billion debt."
WHAT DID TRUMP SAY?
In a statement made on February 19, US President Donald Trump said to Zelensky, "Zelensky, who is a dictator that does not hold elections, better act quickly, or he will lose his country."
