Georges Dib, a social media influencer known as "Doctor Food" with 8 million followers in Lebanon, was detained after approximately one month of surveillance. It emerged that Dib, who was wanted on drug-related charges, had previously been sentenced to life imprisonment in absentia.
Georges Dib, known as "Doctor Food" on TikTok in Lebanon with more than 8 million followers, has been detained under arrest warrants issued on drug-related charges. After a month-long tracking operation, Dib was captured in a raid on his home, and it was revealed that he had previously been sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment in the same case.
RAID ON HIS HOME AFTER A MONTH OF TRACKING
Lebanon's Internal Security Forces announced that J.D., nicknamed "Doctor Food," was arrested on August 23 by teams from the Halba Judicial Unit. According to the security forces' statement, there were two separate judicial arrest warrants against Dib for a drug-related crime.
After approximately a month of surveillance by the teams, Dib's address in Rahbeh in the Akkar region was identified, and a raid was carried out on his home.
CHANGED VEHICLES AND PHONES TO EVADE TRACKING
Lebanese authorities stated that the influencer used various methods to avoid capture.
According to the allegations, Dib would leave his location after filming his content, frequently changing vehicles and phone numbers to prevent security forces from reaching him. However, after about a month of tracking, his location was determined.
ALLEGATION OF DRUGS IN FOOD PRODUCTS
Dib's name first came to the forefront in 2024 with a drug-related investigation. The Lebanese judiciary alleged that drugs were found in some confectionery and food products produced in his businesses, and that the products were planned to be shipped to one of the Gulf countries.
According to Lebanese sources, after food products allegedly containing drugs were seized at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut, an arrest warrant was issued against Dib on charges of drug production, trafficking, and smuggling abroad.
SENTENCED TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT IN ABSENTIA
The most striking detail of the case was the previous ruling against Dib. It was reported that a court in Lebanon had sentenced Dib in absentia to life imprisonment with hard labor on charges of drug production and smuggling.
Dib, however, had previously denied the charges against him and called on his followers via his social media account not to believe the allegations.
HAS MORE THAN 8 MILLION FOLLOWERS
Georges Dib, known for his food, restaurant, and lifestyle content, has more than 8 million followers on TikTok. It was noted that despite the serious allegations and the previous court ruling, he continued his social media posts.
It was reported that Dib, who was taken into custody, would be referred to the relevant judicial authorities in Lebanon as part of the new trial process.
