Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz claimed that they would be "permanent" on Mount Sheikh (Hermon), where they have expanded their occupation of the Golan Heights, which is Syrian territory according to international law.
Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz held an "evaluation meeting" with military officials by visiting Mount Hermon, which the Israeli army occupied following the collapse of Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria.
'PERMANENT' OCCUPATION
Defending the occupation by claiming that Israeli soldiers are present on Mount Hermon to protect illegal Jewish settlers in the Golan Heights and residents in northern Israel, Katz stated that the occupation in the region is "permanent."
"WE WILL FOCUS ON LARGE DRUZE COMMUNITIES"
Katz emphasized that Israel will establish contact with "friendly peoples" in southern Syria, stating, "We will focus on large Druze communities that have historical and close family ties with our Druze brothers in Israel."
IMAGES OF MILITARY OUTPOSTS WERE SHARED
The Israeli army shared images of the "temporary" military outposts it established on the Syrian side of Mount Hermon in the Golan Heights, which it expanded following the collapse of Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria.
ISRAEL'S ATTACKS AND OCCUPATION OF SYRIA
Following the intensification of clashes in Syria on November 27, coinciding with the collapse of the 61-year Baath regime on December 8, the Israeli army increased its attacks on Syria. The Israeli army, which began to destroy the military infrastructure and capabilities left by the regime's army, expanded its occupation in the Golan Heights, which is Syrian territory. The Israeli army, which entered the buffer zone around the Golan Heights, advanced its occupation, reaching as close as 25 kilometers to the capital Damascus. Israel has been occupying the Golan Heights, which belong to Syria, since 1967. The borders of the buffer zone and the demilitarized zone were determined by the Forces Withdrawal Agreement signed between Israel and Syria in 1974.
