Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk made statements after the 2-0 win over Stuttgart in the Champions League.
'OUR GOAL IS TO MOVE UPWARDS'
Evaluating the match, Okan Buruk said, 'The match went as we expected. Stuttgart have high attacking power, but they are also a team that concedes a lot of chances. There were many chances in the match. Whenever we stayed calm and played out with passes, it was better. We could have gone into half-time with a better score. We could have conceded a goal at the start of the match. After 2-0, we could have found a third goal. The match was played with close statistics. Winning was very important. Even when we were 2-0 ahead, we conceded two attacking transitions. Sometimes, while we were playing with the ball and attacking, when the full-backs went forward, they tried to use the spaces. We played a dangerous team and won without conceding. It was a very important day for the next round. Our goal is to move upwards.' he said.
''THE PITCH CONDITIONS WERE VERY BAD''
The experienced coach, reacting to the pitch, said, 'We got tired; the pitch conditions tired both teams. It was not good, it was very bad. It affected both teams. There were very harsh tackles in the first half. There could have been more yellow cards; could Lemina's position have been a red card? The referee is English, but he made his decisions in favor of the opponent. We are still happy with the result.' he stated.
'WE BEAT A GOOD TEAM'
Continuing his words, Okan Buruk said, 'We reached 6 points, we beat a German team... They showed their physical strength. I looked at their average height; it showed 1.86. We beat a good team, that is pleasing. As teams from our country, we are increasing our points. We are going well on the way to catching the teams above. Winning is also very important for the round.' he assessed.
''HE PLAYED VERY WELL, AND HE TOOK A BEATING TOO''
'A birthday gift: winning all the matches until the national break. The Amed match remains; we want to win that one too.' said Okan Buruk, and regarding Batrakov, he commented, 'Batrakov played very well, and he also took a beating. He was hit on the foot and hit on the head. The referee allowed that too. Very harsh fouls were committed, and he did not show cards. He awarded them more fouls. Batrakov got very tired; his performance dropped in the second half. He also played very well when the ball was with the opponent.'
'OUR DREAM IS TO WIN ALL THE MATCHES'
Stating that they dream of taking 3 points from all matches, Okan Buruk said, 'The first goal is to win every match; we have four matches left. If you win these, you dream of the top 8. Then you think of the top 16. The main aim, in the worst-case scenario, is the top 24. We will see where we head once we win the other matches. Now three matches are very important, and the last match is away to PSG. The first three matches can determine our fate. Our dream is to win all the matches.' he remarked.
''SINGO WENT TOO FAR FORWARD''
Finally, Okan Buruk said, 'Singo went too far forward; we had trouble while he was getting back. When we were 2-0 ahead, having the right-back that far forward... We gave openings in defense. It will be among the videos we show him: he should not go that far forward...' he said.
