The Istanbul Governorship announced additional measures taken in the city following the arrest of Ekrem İmamoğlu. The governorship specified the roads that will remain closed until March 26, when the ban on demonstrations in the city will end.

The Istanbul Governorate introduced additional measures to the precautions taken. In a statement, the governorate specified the roads that would be closed until the end of the ban on actions, which will expire on March 26.

The governorate's statement included the following: "In addition to the measures taken by our governorate on 19.03.2025, it has been decided to close some roads to traffic. According to the new decision, the roads that will be closed to traffic from 16:00 on Sunday, 23.03.2025, until the measures are lifted, and the alternative routes are as follows:

İMAMOĞLU REMOVED FROM OFFICE

On the other hand, Ekrem İmamoğlu, the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, who was arrested as part of the corruption investigation against IMM, was suspended from duty by the Ministry of Interior.

In a statement regarding the decision from the Ministry of Interior, it was stated: "Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has been arrested based on the decision of the Istanbul 10th Criminal Court of Peace dated 23.03.2025 and numbered 2025/347 for the crimes of Illegally Recording Personal Data, Accepting Bribes, Interfering in the Tender of Public Institutions or Organizations, and Establishing an Organization for the Purpose of Committing Crimes; he has been suspended from duty by the Ministry of Interior as a temporary measure in accordance with Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipal Law No. 5393."

IBB ASSEMBLY TO MEET TO ELECT VICE PRESIDENT

The Istanbul Governorate also announced that the IMM Assembly will meet on Wednesday, March 26, at 13:00 to elect the Vice President of the Municipality.
