In the investigation launched after the disappearance of 24-year-old Bedriye Karaçay in Kağıthane, Istanbul, it was revealed that the young woman was strangled to death by her husband, Volkan Karaçay, and her body was wrapped in a blanket and left in a wooded area. The suspect, who confessed to the murder, was arrested by the court and sent to prison.

BROTHER REPORTED HER AS "A PROBLEMATIC PERSON"

The incident occurred around 03:45 on the night of July 22 in the Gültepe neighborhood of Kağıthane. A missing person report was filed on July 23 for Bedriye Karaçay (24), mother of three, by her brother-in-law G.G. Stating that the suspect Volkan Karaçay (30) was a problematic person, G.G. expressed concern for his sister-in-law's life. Following the report, teams from the Istanbul Public Security Directorate Missing Persons Office launched an investigation.

FIVE SEPARATE CRIME RECORDS FOUND

Volkan Karaçay, who had five separate crime records, was questioned. In his initial statement, the suspect claimed that he argued with his wife and that Bedriye Karaçay took a taxi and left home. Displaying nervous behavior and making contradictory statements during the interview, Volkan Karaçay was released from the police station due to lack of concrete evidence. However, police teams placed him under physical and technical surveillance.

KILLED THE WOMAN AND TRANSPORTED HER IN HER MOTHER'S CAR

Deepening the investigation, teams determined from camera footage that Volkan Karaçay brought his mother-in-law's car to the front of his house on the night of July 22 and loaded the body, wrapped in a blanket, into the back seat of the vehicle. It was established that the suspect went to a wooded area in Ayazağa, Sarıyer, with the same car, stayed there for about seven minutes, and then left.

During search efforts in the identified wooded area, teams found Bedriye Karaçay's body wrapped in a blanket. Examinations revealed that parts of the body had been damaged by wild animals.

CONFESSED TO THE HORRIFIC MURDER

After the body was found, Volkan Karaçay was re-detained at a relative's house in Ataşehir and confessed to the murder during police interrogation.

The murder suspect stated that after attending a wedding, he argued with his wife at home, alleging she had cheated on him, and said he strangled Bedriye Karaçay to death, then wrapped her body in a blanket and left it in the forest.

COMMITTED MURDER AND CONTINUED DAILY LIFE

Detected to have continued his daily life after the murder, Volkan Karaçay was sent to court after processing at the police station and was arrested by judicial authorities, then sent to prison.
