The trial for the cancellation of the university diploma of Ekrem İmamoğlu, the presidential candidate of the CHP, will be held at Marmara Prison. İmamoğlu will present his defense regarding the allegations concerning his diploma.
The hearing of the lawsuit filed against the cancellation of the university diploma of CHP's presidential candidate, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, will be held at the Istanbul Regional Administrative Court No. 5 in Silivri, at the Marmara Prison Campus.
A lawsuit was filed for the annulment of the decision of the Istanbul University Board of Directors dated March 18, 2025, numbered 3/1, on the grounds of "absence" and "obvious error," alleging that irregularities occurred during the horizontal transfer process in İmamoğlu's graduation from the English Business Department of the Istanbul University Faculty of Business.
İMAMOĞLU WILL APPEAR BEFORE THE JUDGE IN SILIVRI
The hearing date was set as January 15, 2026, by the Istanbul Administrative Court No. 5, which will hear the case. The court had written a letter to the prison to ensure İmamoğlu's presence at the hearing on January 15. After being arrested as part of a "financial" investigation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, İmamoğlu was only taken out of Silivri for the "espionage" investigation. It was expected that İmamoğlu would be taken out of Silivri for his case at the Administrative Court this time as well; however, shortly after, another letter was written to the prison for the hearing to be held in one of the courtrooms located in the Marmara Closed Prison Campus, citing various reasons.
