The lifeless body of 61-year-old retired non-commissioned officer Yüksel Işık, who had been unreachable after climbing the Cilo Mountains in Hakkari, has been found. The large-scale search operation involving AFAD teams from 5 provinces, gendarmerie, and non-governmental organizations for the experienced mountaineer who had gone to the region from Bursa ended in tragic news. It was reported that Işık's body, reached in the steep rocky terrain, would be taken by helicopter to the hospital morgue.
A sad news came about 61-year-old retired non-commissioned officer Yüksel Işık, who lost contact during a climb in Hakkari and had been searched for days. On the 5th day of search operations carried out by teams in the rugged and challenging terrain, the lifeless body of the experienced mountaineer was reached.
LARGE-SCALE SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATION ORGANIZED
Yüksel Işık, who came to Hakkari from Bursa, had started climbing from the Bala Plateau area in Cennet Cehennem Valley towards Süpha Dürek Peak, but no contact was made with him afterward. Following the report, a large-scale search and rescue mobilization was launched in the region.
In addition to Hakkari AFAD, Gendarmerie Search and Rescue (JAK), UMKE, and security guards, AFAD teams from Van, Erzurum, Diyarbakır, Bursa, and Sakarya also participated in the efforts. Members of the Cilo Sat Lakes and Glaciers Mountaineering and Nature Sports Club and the Bursa Search and Rescue Sports Club Association (BAKUT) also provided voluntary support to the operation.
BODY TO BE RETRIEVED BY HELICOPTER
As a result of search activities carried out in steep and rocky terrain with the participation of many professional teams, traces of retired non-commissioned officer Işık were found. It was reported that Işık's body, determined to have lost his life, will be taken from the area by military helicopter and transferred to the morgue of Hakkari State Hospital due to the geographical structure of the terrain. The investigation into the incident continues.
