The horrifying moments that occurred in Thailand's Kanchanaburi region were captured second by second by security cameras. A one-year-old female lion named Mahaesee broke free from her chains and ran into the street, diving into a group of playing children.

At that moment, 11-year-old Arthit Nueangnui, who was in the area, became the target of the lion. His friends managed to escape, but Arthit was knocked to the ground and attacked.

Just then, 43-year-old neighbor Sarawut Tokaeo gathered his courage and intervened in the attack. He struck the lion on the head several times and saved the child. The lion was retrieved by its owner, Parinya Parkpoom (32).

During the attack, both Arthit and Sarawut were injured. They were both taken to the hospital, and their treatments are ongoing.

The next day, Thailand's National Parks and Wildlife Authorities sedated Mahaesee and took her from her owner's home. The lion was transported on a stretcher for a veterinary check-up. Authorities stated that the breaking of the chain was due to the owner's negligence.

According to the Wildlife Conservation Law, such a violation can result in a fine of up to 50,000 baht and imprisonment for up to 6 months. Parinya apologized to the victim's families after the attack, stating that he would cover all medical expenses and surrender the lion.

Parinya said he did not notice that the chain had broken:

"A villager called me and said the lion had escaped and attacked a child. I immediately went outside, caught the lion, and brought it back inside. This is entirely my responsibility."

Neighbor Sarawut said, "The lion had escaped before. The owner's negligence caused this."

Arthit's mother, Lek, recounted her son's experiences and trauma:

"My son was very scared. He can't sleep at night. The incident left both physical and mental scars. It could have been much worse if our neighbor Sarawut hadn't been there."

According to Arthit:

"The lion bit me, pushed me to the ground, and pressed on my chest. I played dead to protect myself. Our neighbor came and saved me."

Lek stated that her son still has nightmares and struggles to sleep. She noted that all medical expenses are being covered by the lion's owner.

In Thailand, keeping lions is not illegal, but it requires special permits, registration, and adherence to safety regulations. The owner's negligence and the breaking of the chain led to a horrific attack.

The incident has sparked significant outrage among local residents. The public is demanding that authorities take strict measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring.
