The General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) published the weather report for July 8, 2026. While a heavy rain warning has been issued for some provinces, the precipitation is expected to be strong around Kars, Ardahan, Iğdır, and Ağrı. In Istanbul, thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected tomorrow and on Friday.
According to the latest assessments by the Turkish State Meteorological Service (MGM): It is forecasted that the southern and eastern parts of the country, as well as Thrace, will be partly and locally very cloudy, with local showers and thunderstorms in the Eastern Mediterranean (except Kahramanmaraş), Eastern Black Sea, northern Eastern Anatolia, and around Kırklareli, Edirne, the western and eastern inner parts of Antalya, Ordu, Bingöl, Muş, Ağrı, and Van, while other areas will be partly cloudy and clear.
TEMPERATURES AT SEASONAL NORMALS
No significant change in air temperature is expected; it is predicted to generally be around seasonal normals, and locally below seasonal normals in eastern parts.
The wind is expected to blow from the north, and from the west and southwest in southeastern parts, light to occasionally moderate.
HEAVY RAIN WARNING FOR 4 PROVINCES, YELLOW CODE FOR 3
Precipitation is expected to be locally heavy around Kars, Ardahan, Iğdır, and Ağrı. The meteorological service warned citizens living in these provinces to be careful and take precautions against adverse conditions such as flash floods, water overflows, lightning, transportation disruptions, local hail, and strong winds during precipitation.
A yellow code meteorological warning was issued for Ağrı, Kars, and Ardahan.
SHOWERS COMING TO ISTANBUL
According to meteorological assessment reports, thunderstorms and showers are expected in Istanbul on Thursday and Friday.
