MHP Deputy Chairman Semih Yalçın reacted to CHP leader Özgür Özel, stating, "CHP spokespeople seek solutions in the streets and in acts of violence in response to what is happening in their municipalities. From today onwards, a severe test of democracy and the rule of law awaits the CHP."
After the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu on corruption charges, a street call was made by Özgür Özel, which received a strong reaction from the MHP.
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Deputy Chairman Semih Yalçın, who asked, "Why has the CHP focused on occupying the streets instead of seeking solutions in the Parliament?" reacted to Özgür Özel by stating, "They prefer to gain by conflict rather than being accountable before the law."
"WE ARE WATCHING THE ANTIDEMOCRATIC THEATER WITH GREAT ASTONISHMENT AS A NATION"
Semih Yalçın's statement is as follows; "After the independent judiciary intervened to investigate the rampant lawlessness and corruption in the municipalities of the CHP, especially the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, we as a nation are watching the antidemocratic theater staged by the CHP management with great astonishment and dismay. In the face of recent developments, the management of the CHP, which is under a cloud of suspicion and doubt, has failed to show a dignified stance and has adopted an attitude as if they want to cover up the injustice they claim to have suffered with noise and chaos. Instead of responding with a policy dominated by reason and calmness, the CHP has preferred horror and violence.
"THE CHP HAS BEEN OVERWHELMED BY A WAVE OF PANIC AND DELUSION"
Instead of common sense and cool-headedness, the CHP has been overwhelmed by a wave of panic and delusion. The CHP management has exhibited a violent reaction without calculating the extent to which accusations and allegations against the party could go. The party has been dragged into this deep impasse by the enormous wrong steps taken by the CHP municipalities, which are at the center of the accusations and suspicions. The CHP management, having just held elections in Turkey and with the nation having just given the mandate, has stirred up internal fluctuations by suddenly bringing up the issue of a new election and presidential candidacy. Rushing to identify a presidential candidate as if trying to take advantage of the fire has not only darkened the shadow of tutelage over the party but has also drawn deep suspicions towards the CHP. The shadow of tutelage over the CHP has also ignited suspicion fires in all its organizations, including the municipalities. Despite this, instead of clearing itself and representing the free will of its voters with awareness, the CHP has tried to bind itself even more to the shackles of tutelage. Both the voters and members of this party are disturbed by the inexperience, incompetence, and political naivety of the CHP management.
"THE CHP IS PAYING THE PRICE FOR ITS INTERNAL CONFLICTS"
Every time they open their mouths, the CHP spokespeople talk about the politicization of law in Turkey and the need to establish the rule of law, yet in the face of what is happening in their municipalities, they seek solutions in the streets and in acts of violence. When the CHP spokespeople are swept into the vortex of major and complex problems, they have exhausted the value and authority of their words and have consumed the solutions from the very beginning. Hasn't the traditional political understanding of the CHP always been like this? The CHP spokespeople's accusations against the government due to the legal actions regarding the municipalities in Istanbul are futile. In fact, the CHP is paying the price for its internal conflicts. Those who want the corruption in CHP municipalities to be investigated and those who complain about the CHP are members of the same community. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, in an attempt to sweep this bitter truth under the rug, is deflecting the ball and bombarding those unrelated to the issue with slander and accusations. Özel prefers to gain by conflict rather than being accountable before the law.
"ÖZGÜR ÖZEL IS STRIKING A BLOW TO THE PEACE OF THE PEOPLE"
Özgür Özel, who manages the CHP clumsily and ineptly, is striking a blow to social peace and the tranquility of the people under the pretext of a coup against the party. Özel intends to create an atmosphere of uncertainty and pessimism, disrupting sensitive economic balances and extracting the pain of the crimes committed by their municipalities from the people. While the head of the CHP should benefit from the blessings of democracy, they prefer illegitimate actions, the streets, tension, and conflict. Instead of inviting the courts to justice and being a follower of the principle of the rule of law, they have called crowds to the streets. The call of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel to his party members to take to the streets is not out of righteousness but out of fear and doubt. Because those who manage the CHP have doubts about their own cleanliness and prayers. The traitor is always suspicious.
Özgür Özel is not confident that the allegations of corruption, bribery, favoritism, and indirect service to terrorism against the party's municipalities will be proven false. He has doubts about the CHP municipalities being exonerated. For this reason, he is being obstructive and resisting. In short, the CHP is the same CHP you know. The public is curious about this issue: Where have the blessings of democracy, which the CHP spokespeople never cease to mention, gone? Why has the CHP focused on occupying the streets instead of seeking solutions in the Parliament? Why has the CHP put the principle of the rule of law on the shelf? Why is the CHP not seeking solutions in democratic traditions? On one hand, in social media, the CHP's head is attempting a perception operation by saying, "My dear police!" while in the small crowds they have poured into the streets, many police officers have been injured in the illegal actions they organized across the country. The peace of our nation has been deliberately disrupted, and the climate of peace has been consciously undermined.
"TURKISH POLICE HAVE BEEN TARGETED BY MARGINAL GROUPS"
Especially our esteemed city, Istanbul, has been on edge for days due to the CHP's violence-prone, anti-democratic, irresponsible, thoughtless, and intolerant policies. The peace of the people of Istanbul has been stained with blood and violence. The self-sacrificing and dedicated Turkish police, who strive for the safety and peace of our nation, have been targeted by marginal groups during the unfortunate events that occurred due to the provocations of the CHP management. For a long time, the CHP, which has attempted to deceive the masses by saying, "Turkey will be good!" has had its democratic mask fall off; its tutelary, interventionist, quarrelsome, and polarizing face has emerged. The CHP has surrendered to opportunistic marginal groups. After the arrest of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and his team, a new situation has arisen.
From today onwards, the CHP is facing a severe test of democracy and law. What is expected from the CHP management from now on is to display a cool-headed, calm, dignified, and democratic attitude. As our Chairman Mr. Devlet Bahçeli has emphasized; the CHP must respect judicial decisions. Will the CHP continue to resort to tutelage, violence, dynamiting the peace of the people, and setting the streets on fire as it always has, or will it prefer common sense and moderation? We will all see together. As the MHP, we will follow the developments. We will patiently continue our efforts to protect the delicate balances that give life to our democracy, to ensure that the great accumulation of our Republic is not wasted, and to preserve the rule of law. It should not be forgotten: There is no other Turkey, no other Republic of Turkey. It is the duty of all political parties to act principled, resolute, and most importantly, responsibly in ensuring that our democracy and Republic live on forever.
