The Ministry of National Defense denied claims that basic military training would be abolished in paid military service and that a 'barracks-free paid military service' would be implemented.

The Ministry of National Defense (MSB) clearly denied the claims that basic military training would be abolished in paid military service and that a "barracks-free paid military service" would be implemented. MSB officials emphasized that no work is being done on this matter.

"WE HAVE NO WORK ON BARRACKS-FREE PAID MILITARY SERVICE"

MSB sources reminded that the duration of basic military training for those subject to paid military service is one month, referring to Article 9 of the Military Recruitment Law No. 7179. The statement included the expressions, "Our Ministry has no work regarding the abolition of basic military training, that is, 'barracks-free paid military service'."

HOW DOES THE CURRENT APPLICATION WORK?

In the current system, citizens who are doing paid military service receive basic military training in the barracks for 26 days. However, the emergence of claims regarding barracks-free paid military service has brought discussions about spending this period without going to the barracks. MSB completely rejected these claims.

BASIC TRAINING WILL CONTINUE IN PAID MILITARY SERVICE

According to the current regulation, citizens within the scope of paid military service will continue their 26-day basic military training in the barracks.
