Pakistani security forces engaged in a deadly clash with separatist militants following the hijacking of a passenger train in the country's unstable Balochistan province, with approximately 300 hostages trapped inside the train.

At least 27 militants have been killed so far as elite forces attempt to rescue the hostages. The hostages were taken during an ambush while the train was passing through a tunnel in the rugged Bolan region on Tuesday.

Security officials warned that more than 150 of the 450 passengers, including women and children, have been rescued so far, but the remaining hostages are in serious danger as the attackers are reported to be wearing explosive-laden suicide vests.

The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that they are ready to negotiate for a prisoner exchange in return for the release of the hostages.

However, there has been no response from the Pakistani government, and tensions remain high as security forces continue to surround the militants.
