In Kocaeli, a person had a call to prayer (sela) recited in his name at two mosques. When it was realized that the man was still alive, the call was interrupted. The locals, seeing the person who was announced as deceased in front of them, could not hide their astonishment.
Yesterday, an incident occurred in the Maşukiye neighborhood of Kartepe district in Kocaeli. According to claims from neighborhood resident Serdar B., he stated that he wanted to have a call to prayer (sela) recited at the Bağdat and Merkez Mosques.
THE NEIGHBORS COULDN'T HIDE THEIR SURPRISE
As a result, the officials recited a call to prayer from the speakers of Bağdat Mosque for the person who was claimed to have died. The call to prayer recited at the other mosque was interrupted when it was understood that the person had not died. The neighbors, seeing the person who was announced to have died, could not hide their surprise.
"IF HE HAD DIED, WE WOULD HAVE ATTENDED HIS FUNERAL"
Neighborhood resident Adnan Şimşek stated, "A call to prayer was recited here yesterday. The citizen had his own call to prayer recited. That's what we heard, but I don't know the details of the situation. Serdar B., for whom the call to prayer was recited, is not dead, but I don't know if he recited it himself or if someone else did. Serdar B. is not dead; if he had died, we would have attended his funeral. He is a member of a family we know."
"I HOPE HE HASN'T DIED, I COULDN'T ATTEND HIS FUNERAL"
Orhan Aydoğan said, "Our mosque imam recited the call to prayer. It was said that our beloved Serdar B. from the neighborhood had passed away. I couldn't attend the funeral because I had business at the hospital. It is said that he is not dead; I have no idea or information about this issue. I hope he hasn't died because I was very upset that I couldn't attend his funeral."
