In Istanbul’s Sancaktepe district, a mother, daughter, and granddaughter who had finalized prison sentences for stealing jewelry from jewelers with sleight of hand and had been wanted for years were caught in the same house. It was determined that the trio, who did not obtain new identity cards or go to the hospital in order to avoid being caught, had their electricity, water, and internet subscriptions registered under the name of a real estate agent they had made an agreement with. The suspects were referred to the courthouse.

A mother, her daughter, and her grandchild, who had finalized prison sentences for theft and had therefore been wanted for years, were caught in the same house in a police operation. It was determined that the suspects had not obtained new identity documents for years to avoid capture, had not gone to hospitals, and had made subscriptions such as electricity, water, and internet at the houses they rented in the name of the real estate agent they had agreed with. The suspects were referred to the courthouse.

Teams of the Wanted Persons Bureau of the Istanbul Public Order Branch Directorate continue their operations to catch people who have finalized prison sentences and have been wanted as fugitives for years. Within the scope of the work, it was determined that 3 suspects wanted for years were around Sancaktepe. It was learned that the fugitive convicts entered jewelers as customers and then stole millions of liras worth of jewelry using sleight of hand or distraction tactics, and therefore had finalized prison sentences.

ALL THREE WERE CAUGHT IN THE SAME HOUSE

Teams of the Wanted Persons Bureau, in their examination through field work, identified the house where the fugitive convicts were staying. In the operation carried out at the address identified in Sancaktepe, mother Zümbül Ö., her daughter Döndü Ö., and her grandchild S.S.D. were taken into custody.

It was determined that mother Zümbül Ö., among the suspects brought to the Public Order Branch Directorate, had been wanted since 2013 with a prison sentence of 6 years and 6 months against her. It emerged that Döndü Ö., one of the fugitive convicts, had been wanted since 2015 due to a prison sentence of 6 months and 1 day. It was stated that S.S.D., who was sent to the Juvenile Branch Directorate because of being underage, had been wanted since 2023 with a prison sentence of 4 years, 4 months, and 15 days.

THEY DID NOT OBTAIN IDENTITY DOCUMENTS OR GO TO THE HOSPITAL

In the investigation conducted regarding the incident, it was determined that the fugitive convicts had not obtained new identity documents for years, had not gone to hospitals, and had not carried out any official procedures in order not to be caught. It was determined that the suspects, who frequently changed addresses, had also made subscriptions such as electricity, water, and internet at the houses they moved to in the name of the real estate agent they had agreed with, so that they would not appear in records.

Zümbül Ö. and Döndü Ö., who were taken to the Public Order Branch Directorate, and S.S.D., whose procedures were completed at the Juvenile Branch Directorate, were referred to the courthouse.
