Municipal cleaning workers found the body of a newborn baby in a trash container in Beşiktaş, Istanbul. An examination revealed that the baby's umbilical cord had recently been cut and there were burn marks on its body.
FOUND BY MUNICIPAL STAFF
The incident occurred on Çevirmeci Street in Ortaköy. The municipal staff collecting trash encountered a motionless baby in a container in front of an abandoned building. Upon notification, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. It was determined that the baby had passed away, and the body was sent to the Forensic Medicine Institution.
MOTHER DETAINED
The Homicide Bureau of the Public Order Branch and Beşiktaş District Police quickly identified the person who threw the baby in the trash as 39-year-old E.A. The mother of three was detained and taken to the police station.
ALLEGATION OF "THROWING IT IN THE TRASH AND GOING TO THE MARKET"
During the investigation, it was determined that E.A. gave birth to the baby on her own, then placed the body in a box and threw it into the trash container. It was learned that the suspect later went to the market to shop. The police are considering the possibility that the mother harmed the baby with the scissors she used during the birth, leading to its death.
The investigation is ongoing in multiple directions.
