A bag thief in Caraguatatuba, Brazil, encountered an unexpected situation while fleeing. 39-year-old jiu-jitsu master Lucas de Pádua Villegas neutralized the thief with a professional move. The incident unfolded as follows: After leaving his mother in front of a store, Lucas heard cries of "Catch the thief!" Looking in the direction of the sound, Lucas noticed the thief running towards him. Security camera footage shows Lucas lifting the thief into the air and expertly slamming him to the ground. In a statement to the local press, Lucas described the moment: "The thief acted as if he had a gun at his waist, but his clothes were tight, and I realized he wasn't carrying a weapon. I immediately executed a double leg takedown and brought him to the ground. He threatened to kill me, but I locked his arm and rendered him unable to move." Having practiced martial arts since childhood, Lucas said, "We are prepared for all kinds of situations in the gym. I thought about throwing a punch, but he was moving too fast and could have escaped. That's why I preferred to take him down directly." The police found a machete, stolen jewelry, and two cell phones in the 27-year-old thief's bag. The suspect is believed to have committed a jewelry store robbery. The thief was taken into custody after a health check. The incident, which went viral on social media, was shared with comments of "instant justice," and Lucas's calm intervention was praised.
