"THEY PUNCHED ME AND CHOKED ME" Bozkurt stated that he was there to help the owner of the tea house. After the incident, he went to the hospital to obtain a report of the assault and filed a complaint against the police officers. Bozkurt, who is married and a father of two, said, "The officers asked me to remove the table and chairs. They broke the table, chairs, sugar bowl, and glasses. They punched me and choked me."
ADMINISTRATIVE INVESTIGATION INITIATED In a statement regarding the issue from the Merzifon District Governorate, it was stated, "There are claims on some social media accounts that a disabled business owner operating in our district was subjected to violence by the Merzifon Municipality police personnel. The incident in question occurred on May 21, 2025, around 11:00 AM, following a report made to the Merzifon Municipality Police Department regarding a business located on Muammer Aksoy Street in our Harmanlar neighborhood, stating that 'tables and stools were thrown outside, blocking the road.' Following the complaint, when the police officers attempted to remove the stools and tables, a scuffle occurred with two individuals present at the business, and both parties filed complaints regarding the incident. Medical reports were obtained, and the matter was referred to the Police Station. An administrative investigation has also been initiated against the police officers along with the judicial investigation, and necessary information regarding the results of the investigation and inquiry will be provided later," it was stated.
MAYOR: I DO NOT CONDONE IT Merzifon Mayor Alp Kargı stated, "I do not condone the escalation of the argument into a fight. We have also initiated an investigation."
