The murderer of Müzeyyen Hiçgüngörmez, who was killed in Üsküdar in 2008, was identified years later through DNA tests. The suspect, Orhan B., was captured and re-arrested after escaping from prison.

In the incident that occurred in 2008 in the Hayrettin Çavuş Neighborhood, Müzeyyen Hiçgüngörmez (79) was found dead in her home with her throat slit. The crime scene investigation revealed that Hiçgüngörmez was found half-naked in the living room of her home, there was a smell of thinner inside, and two lighters were found next to a thinner container. However, no trace belonging to the suspect who committed the crime had been found until now.

CAPTURED IN ANOTHER OPERATION 17 YEARS LATER

While the Homicide Bureau continued its work on the case, on November 1, 2025, Orhan B. was detained based on a tip during an investigation into an incident that occurred in Eyüpsultan. The suspect, who resisted police with his weapon during the operation, accidentally shot himself in the foot. It was learned that Orhan B., who was undergoing treatment in the hospital, had escaped from Edirne Semi-Open Prison. The suspect, from whom blood and DNA samples were taken, was delivered to prison after the procedures.
