In Istanbul's Arnavutköy district, three suspects who were detained in connection with the investigation into a body found in a car were referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station. It was revealed that the incident occurred during an escape attempt by a fugitive who has a confirmed 36-year prison sentence.

A BODY WAS FOUND IN A VEHICLE THAT DID NOT OBEY THE POLICE'S STOP WARNING

The incident occurred on Wednesday, January 14, around 10:00 PM in the Anadolu neighborhood of Arnavutköy. A vehicle that did not obey the police's "stop" warning at a checkpoint was stopped after a chase. During the inspection of the vehicle, it was determined that 48-year-old Özgür Yurdakul was shot in the head and killed.

THE SUSPECTS WERE CAPTURED IN A SHORT TIME

Teams that initiated a study related to the murder captured and detained Emrah A., Berkay T., and Murat T., who were identified as the perpetrators of the incident. The suspects were taken to the Homicide Bureau of the Public Security Branch for their statements to be taken.

THE FUGITIVE SUSPECT'S ESCAPE PLAN WAS DECRYPTED

During the interrogation at the police station, it was determined that Emrah A. had been released from prison on leave some time ago and had gone into hiding by not returning. It was learned that Emrah A., who has a confirmed 36-year prison sentence for robbery, was planning to escape abroad to avoid capture.

THE ESCAPE ORGANIZATION ENDED IN MURDER

It was determined that Emrah A. contacted his military friend and liquor store operator Murat T. to ask for help, and that Murat T. organized the escape through Özgür Yurdakul, who was said to work at his shop and have connections with human traffickers. On the day of the incident, Yurdakul set out towards Edirne with Emrah A. and Berkay T.

MURDER INSIDE THE VEHICLE

When they arrived in Tekirdağ, it was determined that Emrah A. became angry upon learning that he would be handed over to other people as part of his escape plan, and while the vehicle was in motion, he pulled out his gun and shot Özgür Yurdakul, who was sitting in the front seat, in the head.

It was learned that Berkay T., one of the suspects, stated in his testimony to the police, "Suddenly, Özgür Yurdakul, who was sitting next to me, was shot in the head and killed. When I panicked a lot, Emrah told me to move to his seat and that he would drive the car. Then we set off towards Istanbul. Fearing that he would kill me too, I sent a message saying, 'There is a big problem with my father.' The body was still in the front seat, and I tried to hold it from the back so that it wouldn't roll over during the journey."

Berkay T. stated that when they approached Arnavutköy, they encountered a police checkpoint, and said, "We fled without obeying the 'stop' warning, and later abandoned the vehicle with the body in a side street." He expressed that he stayed with the suspect for a while due to the fear he experienced, and that he explained the incident to the police after escaping at the first opportunity, stating that he called the police after finding a chance to escape from the suspect.

"I DON'T REMEMBER EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED"

Emrah A., who is said to be the perpetrator of the murder, reportedly stated in his testimony that he was under the influence of alcohol, pulled out his gun in a moment of anger, and did not clearly remember the events that took place.

Emrah A., Berkay T., and Murat T., who were detained in connection with the body found in the vehicle, were referred to the courthouse after completing their procedures at the Homicide Bureau.
