In the İBB Council, the proposals to change the name of Nar Street in Çatalca to "Volkan Konak Street" and the name of the skate park located within Orhangazi Park in Maltepe to "Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi Sports Park" were unanimously accepted.
The third session of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Council's April meetings was held at the İBB building in Saraçhane under the chairmanship of the Deputy Chairman Gökhan Gümüşdağ. During the meeting, proposals to commemorate the artist Volkan Konak, who passed away due to a heart attack during a concert in the TRNC on March 31, and 14-year-old Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, who was killed in a knife attack in Kadıköy on January 24, were unanimously accepted.
ACTIVITY REPORT APPROVED
The presentation of the İBB 2024 Activity Report was made by İBB Deputy Chairman Nuri Aslan. The İBB 2024 Activity Report was accepted by a majority vote, receiving 158 votes in favor and 97 votes against from the council members.
VOLKAN KONAK'S NAME WILL BE HONORED IN ÇATALCA
After the acceptance of the activity report, the voting on the agenda items commenced. The proposal to change the name of the street "Nar Sokak" in the Çatalca district to "Volkan Konak Sokak" was unanimously accepted.
AHMET MINGUZZI'S NAME GIVEN TO A SPORTS PARK
The proposal to rename the skate park located within Orhangazi Park in the Maltepe district to "Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi Sports Park" was also unanimously accepted. Additionally, regarding the item related to the tender for the operation of 2,500 taxis to be licensed to individuals for 29 years, the AK Party council members raised an objection to establish a joint commission to avoid any legal issues. After the objection, the item was unanimously accepted.
