The winter season has arrived, and as snowfall increased in many parts of the country, news of holidays began to emerge. Due to adverse weather conditions, education was suspended for one day in Zonguldak, Karabük, Bolu, Van, Düzce, as well as in the Beytüşşebap district of Şırnak and the Küre district of Kastamonu.
After the warnings from the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate of Meteorology, snowfall has increased its impact in many parts of the country. Decisions to suspend education in some provinces and districts have been announced one after another due to adverse weather conditions.
ZONGULDAK
The Zonguldak Governorship announced that education was suspended on Monday, December 29, due to the storm, rain, and snowfall that are expected to increase in intensity from the morning hours. According to the statement, educational activities have been halted in all formal and non-formal education institutions, as well as private nurseries, daycare centers, children's clubs, and rehabilitation centers. E-exams planned throughout the province were canceled, and it was reported that disabled and pregnant public personnel would also be considered on administrative leave that day.
ŞIRNAK
In the Beytüşşebap district of Şırnak, education was suspended for one day due to heavy snowfall. In a statement made by the district governorate, it was expressed that the safety of students and educational staff was taken into account against the risk of icing and freezing, and in this context, education was suspended for one day in all official and private schools in the district.
KASTAMONU
In the Küre district of Kastamonu, education was also suspended on Monday due to snowfall. In the statement from the district governorate, it was noted that face-to-face education was suspended for one day in all schools in the district, considering the risks that adverse weather conditions could pose, and that disabled and pregnant public personnel would be considered on administrative leave.
KARABÜK
Due to the ongoing heavy snowfall in Karabük, education was suspended throughout the province on Monday, December 29. In a statement from the governorship, it was reported that education was halted for one day in all formal and non-formal education institutions, as well as in private education and rehabilitation centers, private courses, and public education centers. It was also noted that pregnant and special needs personnel working in public institutions would be considered on administrative leave that day.
VAN
In a statement from the Van Governorship, it was stated, "As a result of evaluations made with our Regional Meteorology Directorate, due to the ongoing heavy snowfall, icing, and fog in Van, education will be suspended for one (1) day in all formal and non-formal education institutions (including RAM, Public Education Centers, Family Support Centers, and Rehabilitation Centers) in our province on December 29, 2025 (tomorrow)."
BOLU
In a statement from the Bolu Governorship, it was stated, "Due to the ongoing heavy snowfall, icing, and adverse weather conditions throughout our province, education will be suspended for one day in all our official and private educational institutions (including rehabilitation centers, motor vehicle driver courses, and Quran courses) on Monday, December 29, 2025. Pregnant and disabled personnel working in public institutions, as well as female personnel with children attending nurseries, kindergartens, and special education institutions, will also be considered on administrative leave that day. However, the situation of personnel working in units providing services on a 24-hour basis, such as health and security, will be evaluated by the relevant unit managers as required by the service," it was stated.
DÜZCE
In a statement from the Düzce Governorship, it was stated, "Due to the snowfall and icing risk that has been effective throughout our province over the weekend and is expected to increase in intensity from tomorrow morning according to meteorological forecasts, some measures have been taken for the safety of our citizens and children. In this context, on Monday, December 29, 2025, education and teaching will be suspended for one day in all official and private formal and non-formal education institutions, rehabilitation centers, and Quran courses (excluding adults) throughout our province. Additionally, female personnel with children attending nurseries and kindergartens, as well as disabled, handicapped, and pregnant public employees, will also be considered on administrative leave for one (1) day. We kindly request our citizens to be careful and cautious and to avoid using their private vehicles in traffic unless absolutely necessary," it was stated.
