On the first day of Eid al-Adha in Adana, novice butchers trying to slaughter sacrificial animals ended up in the hospital. A friend of a citizen who cut his finger said, "He said he would slaughter and butcher the animal in 13 minutes, and we believed him. Instead of the animal, he cut his own finger." While many people injured by cutting tools applied to hospital emergency rooms, another citizen with a cut hand said he was injured while helping the butcher.
On the first day of Eid al-Adha in Adana, amateur butchers trying to slaughter sacrificial animals once again headed to hospitals. Many citizens who injured themselves while slaughtering animals applied to emergency services.
After the Eid prayer, animal slaughters began across the city. However, some citizens were injured by animal kicks and cutting tools. The injured were treated in hospital emergency rooms.
“HE CUT HIS OWN FINGER INSTEAD OF THE SACRIFICE”
Muhammet Çapkın, who cut his finger while slaughtering the animal, came to Yüreğir State Hospital with his friend. Çapkın's friend described the incident, saying, “He said he was a butcher, ‘I will slaughter and cut the sacrifice in 13 minutes,’ he said. We believed him. He held the animal, turned it around. Suddenly we saw blood flowing. He had cut his finger instead of the sacrifice. He shed his own blood instead of the animal’s.”
“MY HAND WAS CUT WHILE HELPING THE BUTCHER”
Yiğit Öztürk, whose hand was cut during the sacrifice, also applied to Karşıyaka State Hospital for treatment. Öztürk said, “While cutting a calf, my hand was cut by the master's knife. Stitches were needed. We have cut 20 calves since morning. Normally I’m not a butcher, I work as a driver. But I know this job too. My hand was cut while helping the butcher.”
After his treatment, it was learned that Öztürk went to the hospital where the surgeon on duty was located by motorcycle.
