The village of Kolluca, located 19 kilometers away from the center of Sivas, draws attention with its story. With a population of approximately 350, the village surprises those who hear that it has produced 130 doctors.
After Dr. Cahit Gümüşer, a Child Health and Diseases Specialist who became a doctor at his mother's request 50 years ago, the young people of the time began to gain admission to medical school one by one. Inspired by their relatives and neighbors, the youth graduate from medical school and become doctors. Those who hear about this feature of Kolluca village visit it, saying, 'Those who drink the water of this village become doctors.' Citizens who drink from the fountain in the village take water to their children and relatives.
"BRING WATER, LET'S MAKE THE CHILDREN DOCTORS"
Shinasi Kumru, expressing that the history of the village dates back a long time, said, "We are a village famous for our doctors. We have 130 doctors. Every year, 1-2 of our students gain admission to medical school. We have a population of about 350. They ask for water from our village. In the institutions I visit, they say, 'Bring water, let’s make the children drink so they can become doctors.' There is such a rumor among everyone. My brother is also a doctor from our family. There is 1 or 2 doctors from each family. Right now, we have 4-5 medical students. We also have doctors at the professor and associate professor level. Those who hear about this feature of the village are surprised. They become envious of each other. They say, 'Those who drink the water of this village become doctors.' They come here to drink water, wash their hands and faces," he said.
