In the Filo Jet ship that sank off Kyrenia, TRNC, the TCG Işın and TCG Alemdar ships of the Turkish Naval Forces continue search and rescue operations at a depth of 554 meters with underwater robots; in the last 48 hours, 4 missing bodies have been reached.
Following the TCG Işın, one of the Turkish Naval Forces' search and rescue ships, the TCG Alemdar ship also continues its search efforts uninterruptedly for the sunken passenger ship named Filo Jet.
OPERATION AT 554 METERS DEPTH CONTINUES Search efforts continue unabated for the passenger ship that sank off the coast of Girne, TRNC. The TCG Işın and TCG Alemdar ships of the Turkish Naval Forces are continuing their search operations without pause. Operations to recover the missing bodies from the ship at a depth of 554 meters are being carried out with robots commanded from the TCG Alemdar.
Rear Admiral Mehmet Baybars Küçükatay, Commander of the Southern Naval Area, stated that search and rescue activities for the catamaran-type passenger ship Filo Jet, which sank on August 30 in the Eastern Mediterranean area of responsibility, are being carried out in the region with 9 ships and 11 naval air assets.
800 PERSONNEL ARE ON DUTY "A total of 800 personnel from the Naval Forces are participating in these activities on ships and with our naval air assets," said Küçükatay, noting that the TCG Işın Search and Rescue Ship also supports the operations. "We are continuing search activities on the seabed, at the bottom, underwater, on the surface, and along the coastline in the region," Küçükatay stated, adding that within the last 48 hours, the bodies of 4 of the 20 missing citizens have been reached and handed over to the authorities. Küçükatay said, "We are continuing the operations especially with underwater robot devices and ROV devices. The ship we are on has the capability and capacity to reach up to 3,000 meters. The wreck is currently at a depth of 554 meters, and operations are ongoing."
Küçükatay, stating that the most significant aspect of the search and rescue operation carried out so far is that it has been recorded as the deepest underwater search and rescue activity conducted in this region, said, "On this occasion, I wish God's mercy upon our citizens who lost their lives and patience to their grieving families."

Rear Admiral Eren Günay, Commander of Underwater Operations, stated, "Under the Operational Control of the Southern Naval Area Commander, we are conducting operations in the search and rescue area with two search and rescue ships affiliated with our Underwater Operations Command, first-class specialized divers, SAT and SAS commandos, and 215 personnel."
Günay noted that with its superior technological capacity and trained expert personnel, the Turkish Naval Forces is one of the nine countries in the world capable of conducting operations in deep waters. "Using all the means and capabilities of our state, we are trying to reach our citizens by carrying out search activities day and night," Günay said.
