Judicial action has been taken against the driver of the pickup truck, who was filmed with a dog hanging in the back while watching in Yozgat. It was determined that the dog jumped out of the truck bed while it was tied with a rope. Its owner, Furkan Yücel, stated, "Why would I mistreat a dog that ensures my safety? I wish they had warned us instead of filming and sharing it."
A person who saw a dog hanging by its neck from a rope in the back of a truck traveling on the road in the Çekerek district of Yozgat recorded the moment with a mobile phone and shared the footage on social media. Following the images, the police and the teams from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry initiated an investigation. Legal action has been initiated against the driver of the identified truck.
In a statement made by the Yozgat Governorship, it was noted that the footage in question was determined to have occurred as a result of the dog jumping while it was tied in the truck bed. The statement said, "As a result of the work carried out by our police and Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry teams regarding the video of a dog tied to a truck traveling within our province, it has been understood that the incident occurred when the dog jumped while it was tied in the truck bed, and legal action has been initiated against the driver under the Animal Protection Law No. 5199." It was stated that the dog was alive and in good health during the checks conducted.
"JUMPED FROM THE BACK OF THE TRUCK"
After the controversial footage, the owner of the dog, Furkan Yücel, who is engaged in cattle breeding, made a statement. Yücel said that, as every year, he took his animals to the highlands of their village to graze. He then described the subsequent events as follows:
"We got in the truck, picked up the necessary items from the district, and loaded them onto our truck. I have 5 other dogs along with the one visible in the video. I loaded them all together. This dog is, as you know, a female dog. She has one puppy. To prevent the puppy from being crushed, I sent it to the highlands by taxi. This dog, not having her puppy with her, became anxious and jumped through the gap in the truck. My dog was tied with a leash and chain in the truck bed to prevent her from escaping. When the animal jumped, it got stuck. As soon as the animal jumped, a vehicle coming from behind recorded it and shared it. At that moment, we were rescuing the animal. There is no problem with that."
"WHY DIDN'T THEY COME AND WARN US UNTIL THEY RECORDED OUR VIDEO?"
Yücel, who found himself in a difficult situation due to the misunderstanding caused by the person who recorded the video, addressed the individual responsible for this situation. Yücel said, "Now let me tell that vehicle coming from behind, they could have come and warned us before recording the video. We will also file a complaint against them. Our dog's health is good. There is no question of torturing the dog or having bad intentions towards it. A person like me cannot even think of doing such a thing. If I saw something like this, I would be the first to react. Those who do this know. These dogs ensure our safety here. Our dogs are more important than us. We rely on them and sleep peacefully until morning. It is out of the question for me to torture them. People in Yozgat and Çekerek know me. There is no one as fond of dogs as I am," he reacted.
"I AM SOMEONE WHO RAISES ANIMALS"
Stating that he loves and cares for animals, Yücel said, "Animals are the voiceless creatures of God. I take care of them as if they were my own eyes. It is out of the question for me to torture them. Although I do not find it right to say this, I am someone who collects excess food from restaurants in my spare time to feed hungry dogs in the mountains and hills. I would be happy if those who spread negative images also publish what I just said," he concluded.
