The Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) is starting the 4th Legislative Year of the 28th Term after a 2.5-month break. Before the opening session, the CHP and TİP have decided not to participate, while the leaders of the DEM Party will be present at the session.

CHP WILL NOT ATTEND THE OPENING SESSION

The CHP administration decided not to participate in the special session in response to recent operations against mayors and the party. Accordingly, CHP members of parliament will not welcome President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and they will also not listen to his speech in the Assembly.

DEM PARTY: OUR CHAIRMEN WILL BE AT THE SESSION

Unlike the CHP and TİP, the DEM Party announced that they will attend the opening session. In a statement from the party, it was reported that Co-Chairs Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan will be present at the TBMM opening meeting to be held on Wednesday, October 1st at 14:00.

KURTULMUŞ CRITICIZES CHP

TBMM President Numan Kurtulmuş criticized the CHP's decision. Reminding that the CHP attended the opening in full force last legislative year, Kurtulmuş stated, "The CHP did not lose anything from here. This is what I call the maturity of democracy. You can criticize the President at rallies, but one must participate in such official ceremonies in the capacity of the head of state. Turkey must leave these discussions behind now."
