Aycan İmre, who lives in Istanbul, learned that Enver Türkmen, whom he considered his spiritual grandfather throughout his life, confessed just before his death that he was his father.
PROVED BY DNA TEST, COURT DID NOT ACCEPT After Türkmen's death, Imre had a DNA test done at a private hospital, proving that Türkmen was his biological father and filed a lawsuit. After the report from the private hospital that conducted the test was not accepted by the court, Imre and his lawyer requested the exhumation of Türkmen's grave.
THE GRAVE WAS DESTROYED BY DIGGING While the court was examining the request to open the grave, it was damaged by unidentified individuals. After the gendarmerie's investigation, a report was prepared stating that the grave had been dug up and destroyed, while Imre and his lawyer claimed that Türkmen's bones were stolen from the grave. Aycan Imre, who continues his legal battle in the paternity case, also filed a new lawsuit requesting that Türkmen's grave be opened to check if the bones are still there and that DNA samples be taken from Türkmen's children to conclude the paternity case in this way.
"I KNEW HIM AS GRANDFATHER FOR YEARS" Sharing his experiences, Aycan Imre said, "He introduced himself to me as 'Grandfather.' I knew him as grandfather for years. When he was last ill, in June 2023, when he was seriously ill in the hospital, he said, 'You are my daughter. From now on, claim your rights. Do not be a victim,' and he gave me his nails and hair. He left everything to me. Even though I proved this with a test at a private hospital, I had to resort to legal means because it had no legal validity. However, during this process, when I sought legal recourse, they tried to steal the grave three times. But in the last attempt, as of last March, they stole the grave. Despite our numerous complaints about this, and even informing the foundation members, no one paid any attention, frankly. The last time we came, we made a report with the gendarmerie and filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office. This grave has two lids. It is not like normal graves. They had opened the bottom lid and completely removed all the soil and everything. There are already screenshots and photos available with both the gendarmerie and the prosecutor's office. Subsequently, they also filed a criminal complaint. So, it is not clear who did this, whether it was my siblings or the foundation members. But this grave was stolen so that I would not be an heir. Meanwhile, our legal process is ongoing," he said.
"WE WILL INITIATE LEGAL PROCEEDINGS BECAUSE THERE ARE ASSET HIDINGS" Lawyer Aslı Nur Çanakçı stated, "Our process regarding my client Aycan Hanım's paternity case is ongoing. Actually, we were waiting for a date to file a request for exhumation along with the preliminary examination case. However, on March 9, she called me with the suspicion that the grave had been stolen. We came, and we made a report with the gendarmerie. Then we submitted the necessary documents for urgent exhumation to the family court. We are currently waiting for an interim decision from the court, which will likely be issued. Thus, we will also come to the preliminary examination hearing with the DNA result. However, there is one more issue. Apparently, the other side was not aware of this. Of course, I am not accusing anyone of a crime. However, if there is a situation where the grave has been stolen by the other side, the theft of the grave is not only related to the DNA being identified as paternal from the father's side. At the same time, when comparative DNA is done with the father's other children, there is something called paternal DNA. That is, DNA coming from the father. The DNA report of sibling children is also accepted by the court. Therefore, when the exhumation is done, whether a different DNA comes out or not, it will also be compared with the children of Enver Türkmen, whom he has already acknowledged and legally recognized. In this way, we will learn whether there has been a theft from the grave. My client will also proceed to register her father in her identity, as the DNA report from the private hospital is accepted and known. Then we will initiate the legal process. Because there are asset hiding issues. We will do our best for her to receive her rightful share. There is also another situation. We have also filed a criminal complaint. Because damaging a grave is also a crime that concerns the public. There is a security camera related to this. The prosecutor's office has sent a letter to the General Directorate of Security regarding this. It will be learned who did it," she said.
