A 17-year-old named M.G. was detained for allegedly stabbing three people in front of a shopping mall in Başakşehir. He stated that he committed this act under the influence of war games. A 17-year-old suspect in Başakşehir was detained and arrested for allegedly stabbing three people in front of a shopping mall (AVM).
Authorities determined that E.Ç., S.Y., and H.F.E were injured in the incident. It was learned that one of the injured, who was taken to the hospital by ambulance after the first intervention of health officials, was in critical condition. The police detained the suspect, identified as 17-year-old M.G., at his residence. It was reported that M.G. stated in his testimony at the police station that he constantly played war games on his computer and phone, and that these games also appeared in his dreams.
M.G. noted that he had similar dreams on the day of the incident, stating that after waking up, he took a knife from the kitchen and went outside, where he stabbed the people he saw sitting in a café. It was reported that M.G. did not specifically target anyone among those in the café, but believed that, like in the games, people would attack him in real life, which led him to carry out the act. After completing his procedures at the police station, M.G. was referred to the Küçükçekmece Courthouse. It was learned that in his statement at the prosecutor's office, M.G. said, "I did such a thing because I was influenced by the games I played." He was arrested by the on-duty magistrate for the crime of "attempted murder."
