The person who allegedly carried out an armed attack on his ex-wife, who is said to have rejected his desire for reconciliation, and her mother, subsequently committed suicide. While the attacker, who had been in and out of prison due to drug-related issues, and his former mother-in-law lost their lives, his ex-wife was seriously injured.
A person who severely injured his ex-wife and killed his mother-in-law in Ankara committed suicide.
2 DEAD, 1 SERIOUSLY INJURED
The incident occurred in an apartment on Şehit Ömer Halisdemir Boulevard in the Altındağ district. According to the information received, Erkan Bartan (53) entered the apartment where his ex-wife S. Koçak (52) was living with her family and began to wait. Bartan opened fire with a gun on his ex-wife, who came out of the door, and her mother Ülker Koçak (73), and then committed suicide with the same weapon. Police and medical teams were dispatched to the area upon the notification of the surrounding people. The bodies of Bartan, who was determined to have died, and Ülker Koçak were taken to the Forensic Medicine Institution for autopsy after investigations at the scene. It was learned that S. Koçak, who was seriously injured in the attack, was taken to the hospital and was in critical condition.
"HE WAS CONSTANTLY HARASSING THE FAMILY"
It was claimed that the attacker Bartan attacked due to the rejection of his desire to reconcile with his ex-wife and that he constantly harassed Koçak and her family for this reason.
On the other hand, it was learned that the attacker had been imprisoned for about 5 years for drug trafficking and was released shortly before. It was reported that the divorced couple had a daughter. It was stated that the investigation regarding the incident is ongoing.
HE HAD GONE TO PRISON FOR DRUGS
Speaking about the incident, Hürol Dursun, a relative of the Koçak family, said, "They were divorced. There was tension between them because of that. The attacker wanted to reconcile with his wife. There was enmity between them. Her ex-husband came to their door today. At that moment, her father-in-law opened the door. He started shooting at that time. He shot at his ex-mother-in-law, his wife, and himself. He had gone to prison for drugs. We had witnessed their arguments before. We never expected something like this to happen. He was my uncle's wife. His daughter is currently in critical condition in the hospital," he said.
