In a speech at the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change Murat Kurum presented a photo depicting the state of the İzmir Bay in ten years according to an artificial intelligence application, which drew reactions from opposition members of parliament.
The budget discussions for the year 2025 of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and the Ministry of Industry and Technology are ongoing in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).
Speaking in the Grand National Assembly, the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Murat Kurum, showed a photo depicting the state of the İzmir Bay in 10 years according to an artificial intelligence application, stating, "Mr. Özgür Özel said, 'We determine our mayoral candidates with artificial intelligence.' We asked about the cities managed by the candidates determined by artificial intelligence and used one of the world's most extensive applications. We entered the current state of the İzmir Bay into the application and asked what the bay would look like in 2034 if the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality does not take the necessary precautions. Artificial intelligence presented this to us," he said.
Kurum's remarks were seen to have angered the CHP ranks.
"THERE IS A BAY WHERE FISH THAT TURNED BLUE TO BLACK DO NOT LIVE"
Kurum also stated, "The fish deaths occurring in the İzmir Bay have saddened us all. As a ministry, we have completed our investigations immediately. We have established our scientific board for the İzmir Bay and put forward a 15-item emergency action plan. When we showed the water we brought from the bay in the commission, we immediately saw those who got excited. Our deputies were flustered. This time, I brought not a bottle but a photo," he expressed.
