The Air Force One aircraft carrying U.S. President Donald Trump, who came to Turkey for the 36th NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government, landed at Ankara Airport. Welcomed by President Erdoğan, Trump will proceed to Beştepe after the ceremony. The Trump-Erdoğan summit will begin at 3:00 PM at the Presidential Complex. The meeting is expected to address the NATO agenda as well as bilateral relations and regional developments.
US President Donald Trump arrived in Ankara for the 36th NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government, held at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The Air Force One plane carrying Trump landed at Esenboga Airport.
Shortly before Trump's landing, the plane carrying the US delegation had also arrived in Ankara. While extensive security measures were taken at and around the airport, Trump is expected to head to the hotel where he will stay after the official welcoming ceremony.
MEETING WITH ERDOGAN AT 3:00 PM
US President Donald Trump is expected to meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at 3:00 PM. The meeting is anticipated to address the NATO agenda as well as bilateral relations and regional developments.
SECURITY RAISED TO HIGHEST LEVEL IN THE CAPITAL
Ahead of the summit, security measures were raised to the highest level across Ankara. While police and gendarmerie teams took intensive precautions at and around Esenboga Airport, suspicious vehicles were stopped and searched one by one along the routes the heads of state would pass.
Teams conducted checks on vehicles and drivers, imposing administrative fines on drivers with missing documents or violating traffic rules.
ANKARA PREPARED FOR THE NATO SUMMIT
As part of the summit, the flags of the 32 NATO member countries were hung on poles along Esenboga Airport and Turgut Ozal Boulevard. Alongside posters showcasing the capital, banners bearing the summit's slogans—"Common Future in Peace," "Key to Security," and "Key to Peace"—were also placed along the routes.
56 THOUSAND SECURITY PERSONNEL IN THE FIELD
Within the scope of the NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government, a total of 56 thousand security personnel, including 49 thousand police officers and 7 thousand gendarmes, are on duty in Ankara. While military and diplomatic flights are expected to predominantly operate from Esenboga Airport during the summit, it was stated that security measures will continue for some time after the summit.
