The General Directorate of Security has filed a criminal complaint against the driver who disregarded the "stop" warning in Ankara and drove the CHP bus towards the police officers. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated, "This is a threat not only to a police officer but to our state, our peace and security, and public order. This reckless and ruthless attack will receive the response it deserves in the face of the law."

According to a statement from the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an investigation has been launched against the suspect G.G., who allegedly did not comply with the stop warning from police officers and drove the bus towards the police on April 23.

JUDICIAL CONTROL CONDITION AND HOUSE ARREST

As part of the investigation, the suspect brought to the Ankara Courthouse was referred to the court with a request for arrest. The duty magistrate decided to impose a travel ban and a judicial control measure of not leaving the residence on G.G. for the crime of "resisting multiple duty officers."

In the camera recordings related to the incident, it is seen that the police officer raised his hand for the driver to stop, but the driver did not comply with this warning and drove the bus towards the police.

On the other hand, it was learned that in his statement, the suspect G.G. said that the CHP deputies in the vehicle directed him not to "stop."

"A THREAT TO PUBLIC ORDER"

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated on his social media account, "Attacking our female police officer who is doing her duty with a vehicle is a threat not only to a police officer but also to our state, our peace and security, and public order. The Republic of Turkey is a state of law. This reckless and ruthless attack will receive the response it deserves before the law. We stand against and will continue to stand against any physical or verbal attacks on our police officers who are on duty for the peace and security of our nation, day and night. Our police are at the service of our nation; they are at its command and are always by its side."

CRIMINAL COMPLAINT FROM THE POLICE

The General Directorate of Security stated in a press release regarding the issue, "Despite the action ban decision taken by the Ankara Governorship, on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, a party's sound and broadcast bus attempted to enter the Ankara Courthouse area, which is 'prohibited for entry and presence.'

The driver did not comply with our police officer's 'stop' warning; he used the vehicle like a weapon and drove towards our officer without showing any signs of slowing down. Our police officer narrowly escaped being run over.

Our General Directorate of Security has filed a criminal complaint for the prosecution of the individual named G.G. who was driving the vehicle for the crimes of 'intentional killing', 'intentional injury', and 'endangering traffic safety.'"
