The statements made by MHP General Chairman Devlet Bahçeli a few months ago, "Öcalan should come and express that the terrorist organization has been dissolved in the Parliament," continue to be a hot topic in the agenda.
Bahçeli's remarks about İmralı were met with a reaction from the General Chairman of the Nationalist Turkey Party (MTP), Ahmet Yılmaz. Yılmaz, during a live broadcast he attended, stated regarding the discussions about the release of PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan, "Let them release Öcalan, I will have him killed."
"I AM SAYING CLEARLY, I WILL KILL HIM"
Yılmaz continued his remarks on the subject by saying: "The nerve endings and perceptions of the Turkish Nation are being played with, they are being mocked. No one has the power to do this. I also said, 'Let him be placed under house arrest, let him come to the Parliament and speak, let them release the one in İmralı under house arrest, I swear on my honor and dignity, I will have him killed by one of those closest to him.' I said it clearly, I repeat. The reason we cannot touch him and cannot take revenge for our children is that he is under protection. Let them release him from prison, let them bring him among the people, and I will see how tall he stands. I am saying clearly, let them release him, I will kill him."
WHAT DID BAHÇELİ SAY?
MHP leader Bahçeli first called on October 22 during his party's group meeting, "Abdullah Öcalan should come to the Parliament and speak in the DEM Party group. He should say that the terrorist organization has been dissolved." Bahçeli reiterated his call in subsequent group meetings, stating that the DEM Party should meet face to face with the terrorist leader Öcalan.
APPLICATION FROM DEM PARTY
Following Bahçeli's calls, the DEM Party submitted a request to meet with İmralı to the Ministry of Justice. Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç, in his latest statement regarding the issue, said, "The process is ongoing. We will work on determining a suitable day."
