According to the June 2026 report of TÜİK Erzurum Regional Directorate, Erzincan's population, which was 243 thousand in 2023, decreased to 240 thousand by the end of 2025 due to migration movements. The report stated that the negative trend in the annual population growth rate of the city continues, while the average household size remained below the Turkish average with 2.7 people.
According to the June 2026 report published by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) Erzurum Regional Directorate, Erzincan's population experienced a decline as of the end of 2025.
FIGURES RAISE ALARM
According to the data, the province's population was recorded as 243 thousand in 2023, 241 thousand in 2024, and 240 thousand at the end of 2025.
The report stated that Erzincan's annual population growth rate continues its negative trend. Accordingly, the annual population growth rate, which was minus 8.9 per thousand in the 2023-2024 period, was recorded as minus 6.7 per thousand in the 2024-2025 period.
HOUSEHOLD SIZE DROPPED TO 2.7
The report noted that migration movements continue to be influential in the population change in the province, and reported that the net migration figure for 2025 was minus 1.6 thousand people.
On the other hand, according to 2025 data, the average household size in Erzincan was calculated as 2.7 people. It was stated that this figure remained below the Turkish average of 3.1 people.
