A photo shared by a soldier from the Israeli army on his personal social media account with the Hebrew caption "Good Morning" has sparked global outrage. The horrific image shows a Palestinian man left in his underwear, blindfolded, and suspended face-down from a metal bar, which human rights organizations have described as "sexual violence and a war crime." The photo, which caused worldwide backlash, was deleted after intense reactions.
A photo frame full of brutality shared by an Israeli soldier on his personal social media account caused an international outcry.
SHARED WITH A "GOOD MORNING" MESSAGE
The image, depicting a Palestinian man left in his underwear, his eyes tightly bound, and tortured by being tied face down to an iron bar, was described by human rights organizations as "live-streamed torture and a clear war crime." The image, which was deleted after reactions, had been shared with a Hebrew "Good morning" message.
"ISRAELI DETENTION CENTERS HAVE CLEARLY TURNED INTO TORTURE CAMPS FOR PALESTINIANS"
Oneg Ben Dror, a representative of Physicians for Human Rights in Israel (PHRI), emphasized that this leaked scandalous image was not an isolated incident, but rather clear evidence of the systematic persecution faced by thousands of Palestinians held in detention centers. Ben Dror stated, "This image confirms the statements of the detainees. Israeli detention centers have clearly turned into torture camps for Palestinians." Sari Bashi, Director of the Public Committee Against Torture in Israel, broke through the defenses hiding behind military bureaucracy, declaring that exposing a person half-naked and defenseless cannot be justified by any security pretext, and that this directly falls under the scope of "sexual violence and war crimes" in international law.
ISRAELI ARMY ADMITTED THE GUILT BUT LEFT QUESTIONS UNANSWERED
Under pressure from the international press, the Israeli army was forced to officially confirm that the photo was taken within its units. In a written statement from the army, it was claimed that this displayed brutality was "incompatible with the army's institutional values," and an internal investigation was launched on the matter. However, military officials fell silent, leaving all vital questions unanswered—such as whether the Palestinian in the photo is alive, whether his identity has been determined, whether he has received urgent medical support, or whether information has been provided to his family perished in Gaza.
THE DESPERATE CRY FOR HELP FROM MOTHERS
The spread of the photo further compounded the pain of Palestinian families whose children have been detained by Israeli forces and who have received no sign of life for months. At least two Palestinian mothers claimed that the person in the photo was their child and called on judicial authorities. Mother Rana Abu Nasser tearfully recounted identifying her son Osama, taken captive on the border line in March, by an old scar on his leg, while another mother, Joudeh al-Ghoul, identified her son Amin, missing since November 2023, by his hairline and jaw structure.
The rights organization HaMoked reported that Israel deliberately imposes an information blockade to hide detainees from the world, and that the email inquiry system established in May 2024 is merely a show. The organization reported that the existence of hundreds of Palestinians arrested in front of eyewitnesses is still denied by official authorities.
