After the arrest of Ekrem İmamoğlu, the CHP leadership is trying to determine a roadmap. Following Lütfü Savaş's application for the cancellation of the CHP congress, the possibility of the 38th Ordinary Congress being considered "null and void" has come to the fore. If such a situation occurs, there is a possibility that former Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu may return to party leadership.
The CHP administration is trying to determine its roadmap through a series of meetings following the arrest and dismissal of Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.
AN EXTRAORDINARY CONGRESS DECISION HAD BEEN MADE
The CHP, which made a decision for an extraordinary congress on April 6 against the possibility of canceling the 38th Extraordinary Congress held in 2023 and appointing a trustee, has also taken the request for the cancellation of this extraordinary congress decision to the judiciary.
LÜTFÜ SAVAŞ APPLIED FOR THE CANCELLATION OF THE CONGRESS
The application made by three people, including former Hatay Metropolitan Mayor Lütfü Savaş, for the cancellation of the extraordinary congress on April 6 has once again turned the eyes towards the judiciary. CHP executives state that they have "B Plans ready" against all these possibilities.
KILIÇDAROĞLU MAY RETURN
According to a report by Ayşe Sayın from BBC Turkish, it is stated that the most unfavorable scenario in the CHP corridors is that the 38th Ordinary Congress is considered "null and void." Such a decision would mean that the previous chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and his administration would take over the party.
MHP'S FETİ YILDIZ HAD WARNED
After Özel announced the decision for the extraordinary congress, MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız argued that if "the votes of the delegates whose wills were disrupted reach a level that affects the quorum" in the 2023 congress, all elections held in the congress, including that of the chairman, would be considered null and void.
It is claimed that the cancellation of the Istanbul Provincial Congress, where the most delegates were elected, could pave the way for the cancellation of the 38th Ordinary Congress as well.

In such a case, it is emphasized that the stance Kılıçdaroğlu takes will gain importance. A group close to Kılıçdaroğlu argues, "In such a case, he will not leave the party in the lurch. He will take over the party but will also make a decision for an extraordinary congress as soon as possible."
Some CHP deputies, stating that "if the congress is considered null and void, conditions will change," argue that not only Kılıçdaroğlu but also other names could enter the race for the chairmanship, and there could be serious competition for the Party Council as well.
It is expressed that the expectation underlying the application for the cancellation of the extraordinary congress by three people, including Lütfü Savaş, is based on this.
İmamoğlu's candidacy will be officially presented for group approval

On the other hand, the CHP administration has decided to vote in the parliamentary group for the candidacy of İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was declared the party's presidential candidate with the votes of one million 653 thousand members in the primary election held with the participation of party members. The CHP's parliamentary group will meet behind closed doors on Thursday to vote on İmamoğlu's candidacy. İmamoğlu's emergence as a candidate is seen as a certainty. However, his official candidacy will only be possible with a decision from the Supreme Election Council after the announcement of the election calendar.
