A social media post made years ago by Fatmanur Çelik, a teacher who lost her life in a knife attack by a student in the Çekmeköy district of Istanbul, has emerged. It was revealed that Çelik won first place in a singing competition she participated in 20 years ago and shared this moment.
F.S.B. (17), a 11th-grade student at Taşdelen Borsa Istanbul Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in the Çekmeköy district of Istanbul, stabbed female teachers Fatma Nur Çelik (44) and Z.A. (52), as well as student S.K. (15) for an undetermined reason.
Upon notification, police and medical teams were dispatched to the school. After the intervention by the medical teams, the injured were taken to the hospital for treatment.
1 TEACHER HAS DIED
Fatma Nur Çelik, who was seriously injured in the attack, has passed away. The suspect F.S.B. was detained by the police. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
SCHOOL HAS BEEN CLOSED
Meanwhile, following the attack, education at Borsa Istanbul Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School has been suspended for one day. It has been reported that the treatment of the injured is ongoing at the hospital, and security measures have been increased.
The investigation related to the incident is continuing.
STATEMENT FROM THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION: INSPECTOR ASSIGNED
The Ministry of National Education announced that an inspector has been assigned regarding the incident in which a teacher lost her life and another teacher and a student were injured due to an attack by a student at a high school in Çekmeköy, Istanbul, and that psychological support has been provided to the students at the school.
MINISTER GÜRLEK: INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATED
Justice Minister Akın Gürlek stated that he learned with sadness about the news of the death of teacher Çelik as a result of the attack that occurred at a high school in Çekmeköy, Istanbul.
Gürlek reported that an immediate judicial investigation has been initiated by the Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the incident, and that the process is being conducted meticulously and from multiple angles, and that those responsible will be held accountable before the law.
Gürlek noted:
"The loss of a valuable teacher who left us while performing her duty has deeply saddened not only her family but also the entire education community and our nation. I pray for the mercy of Almighty God for teacher Fatma Nur, and I wish patience and condolences to her grieving family, relatives, students, and the National Education community. I also wish a speedy recovery to the student and teacher who were injured in the attack. I extend my best wishes to our education community and our nation."
POST FROM YEARS AGO HAS EMERGED
It was seen that teacher Fatma Nur Çelik, who lost her life after being stabbed by her student, shared a video recording from her university years years ago, stating that she had won first place in the regional final of an inter-university voice competition she participated in at that time. Çelik expressed that she found the approximately 20-year-old rehearsal recording in a friend's archive, and in her post, she stated, "From the regional final of the inter-university voice competition. I won first place with this piece, a friend had a rehearsal recording. It's hard to believe it's a 20-year-old recording. I can't express how happy I was."
