The President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ersin Tatar, reacted very strongly to the Greek Cypriot leader who described President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's visit to Cyprus on May 3 as "illegitimate." Tatar said, "Who do you think you are? You think you can insult my President from here and put Turkey in its place? Get out of here."

The President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ersin Tatar, responded to the Greek leader who described President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's visit to Cyprus on May 3 as 'illegitimate' by saying, "Who are you, man? You will throw shade at my President from here and tell Turkey its place? Get out of here."
The Denizli Chamber of Tradesmen and Craftsmen Union (DESOB) held an economic meeting in the city of Girne, TRNC. During the meeting, information was provided to TRNC President Ersin Tatar by the heads of chambers affiliated with DESOB regarding the increase of commercial relations with the TRNC and inter-sectoral collaborations. Speaking at the meeting attended by DESOB President Mehmet Ali Erbeği, Beyağaç Mayor Sezayi Pütün, and the heads of chambers affiliated with DESOB, TRNC President Tatar responded harshly to the statements made by the Greek side prior to the visit of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who will come to the TRNC on May 3 for the opening of the completed Presidential Complex.
"THE CYPRIOT TURK HAS ALWAYS WAITED FOR THE DAY TO RETURN TO TURKEY"
Expressing his satisfaction with the Denizli delegation's visit to the TRNC, Tatar said, "My greatest wish was to increase the relations between Turkey and Cyprus by using every opportunity, and I have always existed with this ideal throughout my life. Because while the Turkish Cypriots were being massacred by the Greeks in these lands and forced into migration routes, we always looked north, we looked to our Turkey, we looked to our motherland. After Turkey left here in 1878, when would it be able to return again, to sustain the Turkish Cypriot presence here forever? We lived our lives with all this longing. The most important date for us is July 20, the Cyprus Peace Operation. With the Cyprus Peace Operation on July 20, the Republic of Turkey intervened in Cyprus with the unilateral intervention right arising from the 1960 Cyprus government agreements. In the subsequent process, there was a state-building and a gradual strengthening of our state. Not only for our 3,800 kilometers of land but also thanks to this state, we strengthened our presence and national existence in this region in cooperation with the Republic of Turkey regarding all our rights and capabilities in the Eastern Mediterranean, our blue homeland, and sky homeland," he said.
"WHO ARE YOU, MAN?"
Stating that the claims "Cyprus belongs to Cypriots. Cypriots will govern Cyprus. Turkey will leave here, and we will be very happy with brotherly relations" are completely nonsense, TRNC President Ersin Tatar harshly responded to the statements made by the Greek side regarding President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's visit to the TRNC on May 3. Ersin Tatar expressed his reaction to the Greek side with the following words:
"All of these are nonsense; the essence is to stand by these national values together with Turkey. We are trying to explain this to those here. God forbid, if the day comes when Turkey is removed from here with this 'federation fairy tale,' which is already the main goal. The Greek leader made a statement like, 'Mr. Erdoğan has said something, he will visit here illegitimately on May 3, he said this and that to the Turkish Cypriots.' Who are you, man? Those who carried out attacks on the Turkish Cypriots in the 1960s, those who buried the Turkish Cypriots alive in graves, those who applied every kind of politics to force the Turkish Cypriots to emigrate from the island, and those who still make us suffer with embargoes and isolations, will throw shade at my President from here and tell Turkey its place? Get out of here," he said.
DESOB President Mehmet Ali Erbeği stated, "As the heads of chambers and the upper union of our tradesmen in Denizli, who support production and employment, we are here to be stronger in all areas, especially in our commercial relations with our beloved homeland, the TRNC, including tourism, art, sports, and more. For this purpose, for example, we are promoting products that we can engage in commercial activities specific to our districts, such as shawls and towels from Buldan, beans and walnuts from our Çameli district, chickpeas and various nuts from our Serinhisar district, dried fruits from our Çivril district, and various dried grapes from our Çal and Bekilli Sarayköy, Buldan regions. We hope that these occasions will be a beginning. We know very well the importance that our President Ersin Tatar attaches to Denizli. The friendship with our former Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekci gives us additional strength. The people of Denizli and we stand by our President Ersin Tatar and support him," he said.
